Adrian Miller_2018.jpgAfter 8 year’s away working in his native South African market, Adrian Miller has returned to Asia as Group Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy Indonesia.

Miller (pictured) brings with him fifteen years of experience, spanning three continents. He has led three network agencies, sat on the worldwide creative board of two of them and built an integrated agency of his own in South Africa.

From 2006 to 2010, as ECD at Saatchi & Saatchi Kuala Lumpur, Miller manged to have a big impact on the Asian creative landscape. He helped build Saatchi KL into one of the Gunn Report’s World Top 50 agencies and won three consecutive Agency of the Year awards. Campaign Brief Asia ‘Creative Agency of the Year’ being one of them. In 2010 Saatchi & Saatchi rose from #5 to the #2 overall position in Asia in the 2010 Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings – a fantastic achievement for a Malaysian based agency.

Miller has led teams of creatives, strategists and inter-agency partners in Singapore, Malaysia, India and South Africa, working on strategic plans for some of the world’s largest brands such as Guinness, Tiger Beer, Airtel, Discovery, Mercedes Benz, P&G, Sony, Toyota, McDonald’s, Lexus, Pepsi, IKEA and HSBC to name just a few.

In 2010 Miller quit Saatchi & Saatchi Kuala Lumpur and moved to India to take up the role of CCO at JWT Delhi. The work Miller crafted and wrote to re-launch Airtel across the subcontinent went on to become one of the most talked about commercials in India and went on to win at Cannes. After just 10 months in India Miller resigned to return to South Africa.

Miller has amassed over 100 effectiveness, consumer, regional and international creative awards, including 14 Cannes Lions. He has consistently been ranked by various trade publications like Campaign and Campaign Brief Asia as one of the top creative directors in Asia and twice had work ranked in the top 10 of The Gunn Report.

His experience working across multiple creative channels helped Tiger Beer regain its failing market share in Asia and helped Discovery Insure, a premium short-term insurance product playing in the BTL space in a very saturated market, become the number one short-term insurer in South Africa. Discovery Insure scooped the coveted Sunday Times Top Brand Award in 2015, voted by the consumer and grew by 423% in four years.

He has sat on the panel and judged at Cannes, Clio, D&AD, AWARD, Adfest, Spikes and served as chairman at the South African Loerie Awards.

Anne Ridwan, CEO of Ogilvy Indonesia said: “With Adrian on board, we have one of the world’s best Creative Directors who will work across Ogilvy to ensure we produce world class creative work for our clients. His experience of leading integrated campaigns means that he will be a vital addition to the ‘One Ogilvy’ spirit and 360 services that we offer to our clients.”

Ajab Samrai, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy ASEAN said: “Adrian brings unrivalled experience, he’s worked for three of the world’s top networks across three continents. He’s a business minded creative that delivers big ideas on the biggest brands. I look forward to him joining our ASEAN team to further supercharge our creative offering.”
