Fanny Yum joins Publicis Communications Shanghai as Managing Partner

Publicis Communications has appointed Fanny Yum as Managing Partner of Publicis Communications Shanghai. In this newly created role, Yum will be responsible for bolstering the strategic alliance and business development among Publicis Communications agencies in Shanghai, as well as reinforcing the Power of One strategy by driving greater integration across all capabilities. In addition, Yum will take on the CEO role of Publicis Worldwide Shanghai, as well as lead the operations of Publicis Life Brands. Fanny will report to Michael Lee, CEO of Publicis Groupe Greater China.

Yum (pictured) started her advertising career with McCann Erickson Hong Kong, and began her Mainland China adventure in 1998 with McCann Erickson Beijing. Having worked in reputable 4A agencies such as BBDO Shanghai, Bates Beijing and DFCB Beijing, Yum was also the CEO of MullenLowe China where she was named as one of the industry’s “Women to Watch” by Campaign Asia in 2012. Most recently before joining Publicis Communications, Yum was the Chief Growth Officer of Charoen Pokphand Group Zheng Yuan China.

Lee commented, “Fanny’s sharp understanding of the market, combined with her passion for the creative industry and its people, will keep our pioneering foothold in this age of transformation. I have full confidence in her capabilities to lead the change for our clients.”

Yum said, “The possibilities for brands today are only limited by our imagination. I believe that, with the Power of One, we will have a tremendous impact in China’s ever evolving market, and we will create an even stronger and effective presence for our clients.”

After having led the agency for over a decade, Publicis Worldwide Shanghai’s incumbent CEO, Chenghua Yang, plans to leave the agency for other personal endeavours. Under his leadership, Publicis Worldwide had won numerous clients and awards, including Campaign Brief Asia’s China Agency of the Year in 2017.
