Bryce Whitwam named new China CEO at MRM//McCann

MRM//McCann has appointed Bryce Whitwam as their new China chief executive officer.

Previously CEO of Wunderman Greater China, Whitwam is a fluent Mandarin speaker and a 25 year veteran of the marketing communications business. Whitwam is one of Asia’s pioneers of non-traditional advertising, specializing in digital and data-driven marketing, retail communications and brand activation.

With experience across key categories, including automotive and telecommunications (having run teams for Ford, Huawei, Land Rover, Microsoft, amongst others), Whitwam has held senior management roles at Nielsen, MullenLowe and Ogilvy.

He replaces Mike Zeng and will be responsible for driving growth across MRM//McCann’s China operations of over 200 people.

“I’m positively excited to be joining MRM//McCann China,” said Whitwam. “They have an extremely strong portfolio of global and local clients, including one of the best creative teams in the business. I look forward to building on that success.”

“In China, the digital share of total media spend is 69.5 percent – the highest in the world, and this is expected to account for more than 75 percent of total spend by 2021. In this highly competitive Chinese market – a market that is incredibly important to future growth of our global MRM//McCann business – it is imperative we are using our data and technology capabilities to drive digital transformation for our clients,” said Kate MacNevin, Global CEO, MRM//McCann. “Bryce is one of Asia’s pioneers of non-traditional advertising, and we are absolutely thrilled he is joining the MRM team to oversee and drive growth across all of our China operations.”

MacNevin added, “We thank Mike for his many contributions to MRM//McCann over the years, and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
