Hakuhodo Indonesia takes out Agency of the Year at 2019 Citra Pariwara awards; Think Thank Indonesia named Production House of The Year
The 32nd Citra Pariwara Awards were held in Jakarta on Friday night. Indonesia’s premier creative award show attracted 1548 entries and was held at the conclusion of this year’s festival – titled “The Freak Show: Celebrating Our Bizarre Talent”.
The best performing agency was Hakuhodo Indonesia who was was crowned as the Advertising Agency of the Year. Think Thank Indonesia was named Production House of The Year; Gojek Creative Lab was named as the Media Agency of the Year; Ambilhati was awarded as the Digital Agency of the Year; and CV Consina Segara Alam was awarded as the Advertiser of the Year.
“An achievement in the midst of industry challenges, this year Citra Pariwara has shown its passion. 1548 entries submitted, 147 Daun Muda entries, fully booked Masterclass, and the Seminar was sold out!”, Reza Fitriano Chairman CP 2019 said.
Devi Attamimi, Co-Chairwoman of CP 2019, added that Citra Pariwara not only presented awards for the best work, but also provided a talent development program in the creative industry through 3 masterclasses and 1 day seminar. “This year we invited speakers who have won many international awards, as well as collaborating with the pop culture platform to keep advertising relevant. Results of the excellent curated content have shown from the audience’s high enthusiasm until the end of the event with the highest number of participants in CP seminar history,” she said.
International judges like Thomas Hongtack Kim from 2KG Korea, Jody Xiong from The Nine Shanghai, Pann Lim from Kinetic Singapore, Alice Chou from Dentsu Taiwan, Woon Hooh from Hakuhodo Asia Pacific, Thasorn Boonyanate from Wunderman Thompson Bangkok and Adam Chan from Bonsey Jaden Singapore also appreciate and praise the quality and implementation of CP 2019.
President Jury of Panel 1, Thomas Hongktack Kim, delivered in his speech, stated that he was honored to judge such a great work. “I’m amazed that the entry is 40% more than the last year and pleasantly surprised by the quality. I can tell you that this accomplishment will raise the bar. I hope there will be more great creative works next year.”
While President Jury of Panel 2, Woon Hooh expressed his appreciation and assessed Citra Pariwara, especially CP 2019, as a festival to celebrate creativity. A showcase of the best this country has to offer. The festival keeps growing younger each year. “My hopes for the future of digital in Indonesia include more innovation-driven work with sustainability, work that will set the trend instead of work that follows trends, and content that really aims to touch the hearts of many. Last but not least, congratulations to all the work that made it to the finalist. Every piece of it is a winner.”
Elwin Mok, Chairman of P3I (Indonesia Advertising Agencies Association) Jakarta said “Despite the fact that Indonesian Advertising Industry is facing massive disruption as the consequences of huge changes in how people consume media, the creative and unique way of communicating brand message to the consumer is always on demand. I hope the huge enthusiasm and participations in this year Citra Pariwara is a good sign for the leap of advertising industry in Indonesia.”

No other multinational agency placed in the top 5.
Because of which real work this time?
The works might be fake. The audience laughter was real :p
What a joke
Big ‘shout out’ to Directors Think Tank! Great win, after doing the same at the Kancils recently!
How to win Citra Pariwara
– Find fake Client
– take clip from internet
– put some “heavenly” punch line
– put your ECD or ECD’s connection or regional ECD/CCO who are friend of the President Juri
– conspire with local jury who don’t even know how to judge
——— GrandPrix
you are all as fake as your work.
and the Indonesian shut their mouth.
100% accurate. Citra Pariwara is under a major crisis of credibility. They have to stop this ugly joke.
once you become a king you will alway a king
of scams.
Hell yeah… I think we just add one more deadly sin here. Hm…, we can do a campaign based on this “new deadly sin”.
Hakuhodonot.
And
Citra Pariwarahahahahaha
This year result is a good reason to ban citra for good.
Couldn’t agree more with @joker. Shameful. Shameful.
Lots of bitter, jealous comments here.
If the anon people above maybe did better work then they would be on the stage.
I dare them to post links to works that they think is better that this year’s winners. Please let’s see your better work.
Either you haven’t see all the entry on the web or you just hakoho-do scam buzzer. Jealous is when you see great work and you say “i wish i done that”, but this one is more to (puke).
If you were hakuhodo, you didnt need better works to be on the stage…
you just need regional connection in your pocket.
easy hahahahahahahaha
People who work on advertising for years knows that when it comes to judging an awards there must be some political, lobbying, unfairness and so on.
But this year citra is just gone to far. It so obvious on how they decide the jury line up, the finalist and even the winners. To the point that you guys are so stupid.
No wonder your agency cannot provide real works.
Can anyone help to scratch my back?? So itchy.
Apart from Thomas, the jury was just not ‘international’ enough…I think they were trying to be radical, but it has just bitten them on the arse. Citra has always been crap, this was wasted opportunity to try something different.
Shut up you all!
Did your mom teach you to appreciate someone’s hard work?
I wonder how citra pariwara’s juries expressions after watching all these comments…..
They’d rather lost their credibilities than judging fairly.
Anyways, Have anyone seen three of them during the ceremony?
Or were they just too embarrassed by their own decisions
I understand everyone has their opinions on the winning works, myself included. But, rather than just trashing, i believe it would be better if we can just give suggestions to the committee on how to improve things next year, let me start:
Maybe have more local jury next year? So the judgement can be more competitive rather than quid pro quo (if there’s any)
What do u guys think? Anymore suggestion?
Save your money for the real awards show. This is a joke.
Guys let’s fix this shit, Citra… maybe you can start to fix how you manage your panel of judges ( you guys are grownups, you know what to do to support fairness and to support this industries ) or make a new category to support concept works (initiative) to find a balance that real works, works.
let me help you Glass Man king of Scams
How to ruin citra :
– chose judges that can be controlled
How to fix Citra :
– Don’t send anything next year, next year, year next.
Citra pariwara really wants to fix it?
1. Create an independent investigation team.
2. Reveal the truth to public and mass media, because you’re about to announce the winner to mass media, right?
3. Make your organization transparant.
4. If you find suspicious things during investigation, sue the one who’s cheating, bring them to court.
Would you do that?
Honestly in my previous role, we had to fight hard to submit into Citra Pariwara. Our bosses don’t really believe in awards. We justified it by using it as a recruitment tool. Submit and show good work wins and possibly hire good talent. But honestly, feel this is the last time they will submit. There is only so much you can do to make brand owners to considering submitting into award shows. What does awards do for you business. For Cannes we can justify it by trying to put you brand on the map along other big brands. But for a local show it’s usually about attracting local talent but clearly this year the whole scenario seems flawed. First up the judging. My ex company had a good year last year in citra, 3rd creative agency of the year and media agency of the year but no Judges from my previous place was selected to judge.
Then the results.. Alot of the good local Indonesian work that was the talk of town didn’t win as big as it shou;d, that’s fine maybe the work isn’t that great. But the winners you’d expect to see something ground breaking, instead you see work that should be in a 90s award show being nominated and win ( plus all the help save the world/children that no one in the country has even seen wins.) This will be a huge turn off for big brands. Im pretty sure next year you will only have Non Profit Organisations and Japanese restaurants submit in Citra Pariwara.
If you go down this route, all the big brands who do good work would probably stay away from your award show. I hope those who play these judging games change your ways, it’s only ruining the industry and credibility of shows. Citra Committee please do whats right for the industry not just to a select few whop pay u loads of money to submit.
The truth may hurt a few and piss many off but i’m not the only one saying it.
No publicity is bad publicity. Keep up the good work, you brave keyboard warriors hiding behind anonymity spewing your truths.

Wey wey
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you, it will.
CP is clearly a place where fake client work is given air to breathe. So be it. The committee should make the awards about student work and work that could be deemed creative in 2004. It still wouldn’t change what the awards represent – a fertile ground for plucking talent and harnessing them to do meaningful work for real clients (who no longer use print to make a marketing impact). For many of the creatives entering, CP can be a form of creative therapy to put their name towards something that they would love to do in their day-to-day. We can all admit the complexity of today’s business: yesterday people would like/buy brands based on feelings. Today we ask them not to care because we can predict their behaviour and trigger queues. So let’s not forget the CP relevance. The industry still needs a next generation. If this is the Indonesian forum for this, I say fine. Let’s just not pretend it mirrors real and credible award shows and then there’s no issues or animosity.
FYI, that sushi restaurant ad you despised won metal at Adfest (silver? I forgot). That money for math or whatever the name is entry? Graphite pencil at D&AD.
Just here to watch the fight while enjoying my popcorn.
It’s true, dork!
They won at adfest and dnad, while your (hakuhodo) regional ecd became the judge.
Same trick same sh*t everywhere
What a toxic
So, Adfest and D&AD needs to be bashed too?
But whatever.
BTW, he’s not my CD whatsoever.
I’m enjoying all these anonymous spewing hates like true Indonesian Netizen.
While you’re also using anonymous names… indonesianception. Dont tell me your mom gave you that name. Lol
Nope, that’s what your mom calls me whenever I’m inside her.
See, do not bring moms into equation here.
Who was the Regional ECD judging in Adfest and D&AD? Tell us!
Y’all invited to my house for further discussion.
I don’t know who you guys, i don’t know the people inside the winner or the judges that you guys gave hate comments. But after read all those hate comments, lemme say that you guys only blaming somebody else’s works for your failure or inability to compete in award show. Why don’t you prove your real great works in international awards show and get lots of metals? this is just your excuse to cover up your disappointment because of your expectations can not be achieved.
Trying to be wise… but sorry you dont get the point, sir.
Look, I totally understand that you need to play dirty in order to win. But could you at least be less obvious about it? That sushi shit didn’t deserve a gold, heck it doesn’t even deserve to be a finalist. Shame on you judges and the committee, you just damaged your credibility beyond repair. And congrats for HAKUBODO for successfully making a fool out of Indonesia’s ads industry. This year’s cipar is truly a freak show.
Celebrating bizarre talents, indeed.
Wow all of the Hakuhodo’s works this year was so inspiring to me. Those would be my benchmark of how a great works should be. Can’t wait to join the industry 🙂
Agree the works are embarassing.
But the only way to fix this national embarassment is to prove that Indonesia could produce real world class works.
Let’s engage our clients. Solve their problems in the most beautiful way possible. Snatch the effies and Lions. Show the world that we are more strategic than those laughable miniso ads.
And prove it is never abour jealousy of getting to citra stage.
👊
The winning agency of the year hasn’t done this for the first time – this has been going on for years .
Maybe the agencies should get together and not participate going forward since the organizing committee has turned a blind eye on this rampant mockery of the advertising industry. Can start by not hiring the talent listed on the so called ‘creative’
Bodo amat… hahaha
How the hell you can fix citra if one of the most senior person on the P3I is also the CEO of hakuhodo.
Y’all Indonesian are doomed. Find another job.
Gen Z will take over.
He needs to step down A.S.A.P
Every year Citra Pariwara has a theme (or something like it) that’s intended to make ad people feel relevant again, and yet they chose to give the highest distinction to the agency that produced the least relevant work.
The irony. The oligarchy.
Sushi Sei has a 4.2 rating on Zomato.
joke of the years
Assalamualaikum, bismillah…
Sebenarnya sah sah aja Hakuhodo Indonesia meraih Agency of The Year 2019.
Wassalam,
Najis. Laknat biadab.
To suggest the international judges are biased is naive. All the international judges would approach this task with credibility and I’m sure judges with work from their network would have left the room for the decision making like any other show in the world.
The jury can only judge what they see put in front of them. They might feel that it’s scam but these were probably 10 times better than anything else entered.
Ironic that all these comments maybe come from people working in multinationals that over the past years of Citra Pariwara were scamming away and winning awards for it themselves.
If the judges think that an Alfamart PSA that won’t raise awareness of plastic waste is 10 times better than any of Go-Jek or Ambilhati’s real campaigns that went viral…
I don’t even understand what is the connection between our business and some dog trap in plastic tube.
Sushi sei get a 90% audience rating in IMDB
Well maybe some judges might intentionally raised their hands to vote Alfamart work as Grand prix because they wanted to make it obvious that this year CP was a clear dirty game. If it’s always be like this, more young creatives won’t believe anymore in ideas and awards. It’s just so SAD for this dying industry.
@Another Perspective. Sorry, I am commenting from Singapore and unfamiliar with Alfamart PSA and Go-Jek or Ambilhati. Could you post links as genuinely interested to view. I was just defending the international jury’s integrity in my previous post.
Gue mau ke Indomaret, ada yang mau nitip ga?
Di Indomaret bisa beli suara buat vote karya CP tahun depan ga? Nitip dong karya-karya gue biar dapet grandprix.
Bisa ceu, nanti aku setup-in meeting bareng brand teamnya ya.
No worries @Some Perspective
Here’s the Alfamart PSA. Note the number of comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3gnUG9UGGw
This is the Go-Jek ad (part of 360 campaign that went viral): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viUwhsB00i8
And this is Ambilhati’s ad for Grab #Ovomatis. Very meta, also went viral: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5epLOKL3mMs
My point is that even if the two works that didn’t win Grand Prix were deemed as not being good enough, the work that won really didn’t make waves at all. The ones who know about it are probably just ad people.
Komen dimari udah pada lapor lurah belom?
I’m wondering how Hakuhodo will host next year citra? If everyone have no trust anymore.
#BoikotCiPar2020
Apologize with this stupid question, but anyone has insight on which ads should deserve better acknowledge?
Though i would say that Grab ads is very well executed.
This is their out door grand prix : http://citrapariwara.org/penghargaan/out-of-home?id=1290
Looks like a fake ad from 80s or a student’s first ad.
Feeling the same. I’ve thought that now is 1999
50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, so what? is all about visual treatment i think,, get out of your shell please!
Well apparently not low enough… 2020 let it be only 1 agency who bothers entering and winning…
@Another Perspective and others. We went through the Golds and the Silvers in a few categories and in our humble opinion the jury seem to have done a good job considering the standard. The final result is certainly not “politics” as many are screaming here.
@Another Perspective I totally take your point on the film grand prix not making waves at all but the two examples you put forward are not grand prix material. Perhaps the jury wanted to encourage so gave a grand prix when they should have not awarded one at all?
The Indo industry shouldn’t blame Hakuhodo for supporting the local award show and entering big and then winning big. Blame the Ogilvy’s, JWTs, Lowe’s etc for being so shit and not having anything to enter.
You’re nothing but acting like something. Lol. Shut up your bullshit!
Keserakahan membawa malapetaka
“The final result is certainly not “Politics” as many…”
Either you are just graduated student from high school or you are just become ECD of hakuhodo.
Don’t mind me, i’m just here to scroll
My fellow Malaysians, please stop using the word of “Citra… Citra…Citra…”. You’re easily recognized because it doesnt sound natural. Lol. Just using “Cipar”, “CP” or “Citra Pariwara”. Do you get it now? Say yes in the comment below if you do.
Not only hakuhodo did shitty thing in judging process, other agencies too. You know there’s always dirty shit here, and you will enter your works anyway next year CP. Then this kind of shit would happen again. Such stupid cycle.
Just don’t enter CP lah, save your money, give a raise to your underpaid employees instead.
@Some Perspective Won’t debate you as you’re entitled to have your own creative standard. But if it’s that’s the case, they shouldn’t have awarded the grand prix to a commercial Alfa Mart never even needed.
Lots of faker here. Pretending to be Indonesian and posting hate messages. I wonder who is behind all these malicious comments. VJ and the fakes? Pls grow up.
We’re real. You’re fake because of your fake works! Hahahhahaha stupid
Hi you,
The cheater, the loser, greedy and delusional people…
You may think that all that against you arranged by only few people… and it’s just a personal matter.
Dude, please open your eyes!
Everyone saw with their eyes about what happened in the festival.
They already talked about all of those strange things even before they stepped out of the venue. And they still talk about it until now.
It’s never been happened in our history.
You robbed us.
We all are dissapointed…
Dear Faker please use your real name because I do when I post here. And I only posted once. I don’t really need to post malicious comments as my ex agency did pretty well at the show. I’m just sad that the work you never see out In the public win big when you know it’s clearly work made for award shows. Meanwhile many of the other agencies including my ex team have been slogging it out with real work and real solid results. It’s not fair for the industry and it’s teaching the younger ones the wrong things. I’m not pretending to be Indonesian, I am posting as myself faker. What about you?
Where do i sign up to be a jury, I’ll be honest and impartial
Ni kalo mau ni yee.. tahun depan gak usah entry.. mending tu duit entry yg terus naek dan mahal disimpen… Buat banyakin billing.. biar bisa outing.. CP udah ga seprestise dulu.. ga dapet duit pula..
Hi JwT, Dentsu Aegis, Lowe, TBWA, Havas, Ogilvy, Bates, DDB, FCB, Grey, Publicis, Leo Burnet, Satchi, Flock Network, Bujuk Rayu, FAB group, Berakar, Matari, Pantarai, Romp, Go-jek creative labs, and many others, when will you follow the right move that Komunika (BBDO) did that has been viral among the advertising community.??? Or you all just as fake as the CP this year.
It’s time to change the game!
Who is bbdo?
Have you seen their works in cp?
Another joke. Lol hahahahahahaha
BBDO has been submitting scam-ads for years too. A bit shameless if they’re asking for refund now.
The only way for them to win AOTY at CP now is to be buddies with the likes of Hakuhodo and join the organizer’s dark inner circle.
The last unexpected winner of CP for me was Iris a few years back. It was like a middle finger to the Hakuhodos and JWTs of this world.
And let’s face it. The best agency in Indonesia right now is not even an agency. It’s Gojek, a client! They’ve been doing Great, Real, and Impactful Work.
So, kudos to VJ and the Gojek Team!!
The already called this event “The Freak Show” filled with bizarre talents, i am wondering why did you guys join this?
While the whole world is fighting for relevancy, realness, sustainability, intelligence, eco friendly
there is nothing creative about being freak and bizarre other than desperately seeking for attention.
Why are you so serious?!
Because this is not supposed to be a joke.
It’s a serious thing if the industry want it to be prestigious.
Not to mention it’s getting costly.
