New York Festivals releases industry awards: Cheil Hong Kong named Asia Pacific Agency of the Year + McCann Worldgroup earns Global Network of the Year gong

Each year New York Festivals recognizes companies who push creative boundaries within the industry with special industry awards. They are determined by the number of high-scoring entries achieving trophies in the New York Festivals Advertising Awards competition based on votes cast by New York Festivals Executive Jury, Film Craft Executive Jury, Financial Executive Jury and the Grand Jury panels.

 

The 2020 Regional Agency of the Year Award for Asia Pacific was awarded to Cheil Worldwide Hong Kong. This is the third year in a row Cheil has picked up this top award. In addition to being No1 Asia Pacific Network they were the No1 China Agency, No 1 Hong Kong Agency and were No3 overall Global Network for 2020.

With Cheil Hong Kong contributing the most, Cheil Worldwide won 34 trophies including 7 Gold, 12 Silver, and 15 Bronze across the network. The numbers set the record in the agency network’s history at New York Festivals Advertising Awards.

Cheil Hong Kong won 5 Gold, 6 Silver, and 7 Bronze for Chupa Chups’ “Homework,” “Music,” and “Tidy-Up” in Artistry & Craft in Advertising and Print categories. Every intricate detail was meticulously crafted to convey the monotony of chores such as homework, music practice and tidying-up; making the temporary escape from arduous tasks feel that much sweeter.

Another Gold went to “Lose Yourself in a Book” for Penguin by Cheil Beijing and Cheil Hong Kong. The visuals use different textures, colors and styles to reflect each famous Penguin book. The campaign also earned a Silver and 3 Bronze.

One more Gold went to “Waste Measure” which also won a Bronze. In order to raise awareness on water conservation, Cheil Brazil and Greenpeople Juices launched special water bottles that were measured not in liters but everyday water waste such as taking a shower or brushing teeth.

Other winning works include “Samsung Good Vibes” (Cheil India) helping deaf blind people communicate through an app, “BACK2LIFE” (Cheil PengTai Beijing & Cheil Hong Kong) that hacked and built hands-on CPR training right into the game, Starbucks “What’s Your Name” (Iris), NIVEA “The Man Who Changes Mondays” (Cheil UK), and WWF Korea “Fish Love Band” (Cheil Worldwide).

McCann Worldgroup was honored with the 2020 Global Network of the Year Award; this prestigious award is presented to the agency network that earns the most awards and produces the highest caliber of top scoring creative work within the competition. The network earned in total 10 Gold Towers, 15 Silver, 31 Bronze and 117 Finalist Certificate Awards.

Mastercard, a global fintech company, was recognized with the 2020 Global Brand of the Year Award for their fearless commitment to creativity and innovation. Mastercard global campaigns earned 6 Gold Towers, 6 Silver Towers, 14 Bronze and 117 Finalist Certificate Awards.

Jung von Matt AG was honored with the title of 2020 Independent Agency of the Year. This special industry honor is awarded to the non-networked agency that obtains the highest score for creative entries in all New York Festivals Advertising competitions across all mediums.
