Matt Eastwood believes that passion trumps talent because there are no rules on who can win and who can’t. He’s also a unicorn.

Today’s Episode features Matt Eastwood, the Global CCO of McCann Health and someone who’s impostered his way very successfully all over the world, despite the fact that he lost his very first pitch at M&C… when he was standing next to Maurice Saatchi.

Matt thinks there is no such thing as luck. he believes that ‘luck is when opportunity meets preparation’ – it only happens when you work your ass off. Coming from someone at the very top of the game and the recipient of all of the major awards from all of the festivals that count, he may have a point.

Matt actively seeks places outside of his comfort zone, the latest example of this being his latest move out of ‘traditional’ creative lead, to head up McCann Health as Global Chief Creative Officer in January of 2019. Matt talks compellingly about how being ‘the dumbest in the room’ can actually be the most useful thing you can do. Talking compellingly about moving from creating ideas that help shift products those that help change lives has empowered him onto the latest chapter of his career.

With a new episode every Monday, The Imposterous is hosted by Michael Knox (ECD, Roller) and Graham Drew (CCO, Grey Malaysia) and as has been created to explore the theory that even the world’s most respected creative professionals suffer pangs of inadequacy that either stifle their potential brilliance or protect them from mediocrity. Tune in to find out how Imposter Syndrome might just be your super power, if you let it.
