Costa Coffee Malaysia appoints Ogilvy Malaysia

Ogilvy Malaysia has been appointed to handle the social media management strategy for Costa Coffee including content creation, community management and campaign management.

The appointment will see Ogilvy drive strategy, insights, creative ideation, in-store assets, video assets and social content. This will help to position Costa Coffee as one of the most iconic food and beverage chains in Malaysia.

Costa Coffee, UK’s favourite coffee store brand, has opened over 700 Costa Smart Cafes (self-serve machines) nationwide and 14 Costa Coffee Stores in Klang Valley, KLIA and Langkawi airports with ambition to double its growth in 2023 across Malaysia. The brand is expanding its footprint in Malaysia by not only expanding its store locations, but by also further building its brand equity in Malaysia. With so many coffee brands and retail outlets nationwide, Ogilvy intends to build more meaningful connections with Malaysian coffee drinkers. The ambition is to deliver positive engagement and strengthen brand relevance locally while maintaining Costa Coffee’s international brand standards.

Lim Ju Lee, Head of Marketing, Costa Coffee Malaysia, said: “Costa Coffee Malaysia has been actively engaging Malaysian coffee drinkers, building brand love and affinity for the past two years. In tandem with our growth ambition, we believe that the time is right to engage Ogilvy Malaysia, to work in partnership with us to drive Costa Coffee brand in Malaysia to the next level. We look forward to working together to deliver some exciting brand and consumer experience in the coming months.”

Kunal Jeswani, Group CEO, Ogilvy Singapore & Malaysia, said: “This is a fantastic new business win for Ogilvy Malaysia. Costa Coffee is a great, experiential brand and we are more than ready to be the creative partner that drives their growth ambitions in Malaysia. May this be the start of long, wonderful partnership.”

Moheeta Tamrakar, Director of Experience & Social Ogilvy Malaysia, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Costa Coffee in leveraging the power of social media and storytelling to expand the audience base and amplify growth and success for the brand.”

Ogilvy did not go through an extensive pitch process as Costa Coffee, which is in line with Costa Coffee’s global brand direction to work in partnership with the WPP group across markets.
