Dentsu Inc Tokyo tops the Campaign Brief Asia Agency Creative Rankings for the first time
For the first time in the history of the Campaign Brief Asia Creative Rankings a Japanese agency sits at the top of the tree. Following an outstanding all round performance at most of 2009’s major award shows Dentsu Inc Tokyo is the most awarded agency in Asia, and Campaign Brief Asia’s Regional Agency of the Year.
The traditional rivalry between Singapore’s creative powerhouses, Ogilvy & Mather and Saatchi & Saatchi, played second fiddle this year as Dentsu rose up from their consistent fourth and third position of recent years. Dentsu emerged at the top of the rankings earning 1025 Ranking Points in 2009 on top of their 777 Ranking Points in 2008. Their biggest earner for them was London International Awards (270pts), Cannes Lions (205pts), Spikes Asia (160pts) and D&AD (140pts). Impressively Dentsu’s award performances were primarily in the Digital, Interactive, Titanium and Cyber categories.
Dentsu held off two other very strong award-winning performers this year – Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia and BBDO Proximity Malaysia.
This year is also the first time two Malaysian agencies have filled second and third positions in the Creative Rankings. And, it’s also the first time a Singapore agency has failed to make the Top 3.
The Top 10 Agencies in the Creative Rankings will be posted here tomorrow.

Interesting. We never saw that one coming. And now they’re there they might be hard to dislodge. Well deserved though and the result of a lot of hard work.
Well done, Dentsu. And your work (well, some of it, at least) actually saw the real light of day, in response to a real client brief, in the real world. Refreshing to know, when so many of these previous ranking victories from Singapore and others were built largely on pure sham. Nice one.
Good for Dentsu and Kagami-san.
A worthy winner.
A good wake-up call for Singapore. The realities of the changing industry are not as obvious in Singapore but take one step out and you’ll frighten yourself with how insular the industry is.
Saatchi & Saatchi are bad right now.
Navy, Tiger gone.
All creatives gone.
No awards.
Noone know what they stand for now.
