postcard3a.jpgThere’s probably no better way to commemorate the father of the nation’s 141st birth anniversary than by starting a new revolution. With this in mind, Leo Burnett Mumbai proudly launches its unique creation – The ‘Gandhiji Font’. The font design has been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s trademark spectacles and is the perfect tribute to the man affectionately called ‘Bapu’ by the entire country.

The font has been created in the Devanagari script and the way in which ‘Bapu’s’ spectacles (shown below) have been incorporated in the fonts, reminds one of his vision and allows us to see the world through his eyes.

Gandhijis Spectacles_sml.jpg“The creation of these fonts is our way of celebrating the life and teachings of the Mahatma,” said K.V. Sridhar, National Creative Director, Leo Burnett. “The values of truth and non-violence as imparted by Mahatma Gandhi decades ago are more important today than ever before, hence it only seemed apt to create something like this.”

postcard1a.jpgpostcard2a.jpgThe font has been designed keeping in mind Leo Burnett’s Humankind approach which believes that creativity has the power to transform human behaviour. Also, with the Internet revolution in full swing across India’s towns, cities & villages, the font has the ability to reach out and touch the lives of billions of people in India and around the world.

A version of this font will be soon available in English. The fonts will be promoted through the web using different social networking sites and also a full fledged website – www.gandhijifont.com which will have quotes by the Mahatma written in these fonts. The font will be available for download across all platforms.
