BBH hires Thijs Jacobs as Creative Technologist
BBH Asia Pacific is further strengthening its digital offering with the appointment of Creative Technologist, Thijs Jacobs. A self starter in the industry, Jacobs’ core skills lie in a combination of technology, design, web development and product management, which he has harnessed over the past decade. He has been based in Beijing for the past five years where he has had a major impact on the Chinese internet industry with the creation of internet applications for both Western and local markets.
Jacobs was Director of Digital Innovation at Ogilvy One China, where he spearheaded the Agency’s Digital Innovation Lab. He later joined start-up Linkool Labs as its Chief Technology Officer, where he helped launch Juice – a patented intelligent discovery engine that was the first plugin to be bundled into an official release of Firefox, landing the company an acquisition by Mozilla in 2009.
“Thijs is a rare mixture of a creative mind combined with profound technological expertise and an unusually strong commercial understanding,” said Frances Great, Managing Director at BBH Asia Pacific. “There is no doubt he will make our output more interesting and ultimately, make us better at what we do. We are thrilled to have him on board.”
Jacobs commented: “BBH is amazingly creative, laser-focused on quality and filled to the brim with some of the best talent in the world. Imagine bundling that immense creativity with the business potential and scalability of technology; that’s the stuff dreams are made out of.”
