Nine Gold statues to Asia with China leading the Asian pack at London International Awards
The 2011 London International Awards were presented last night in London and in terms of the overall performances for Asia it was China who lead the way. China picked up one Grand LIA, 4 Gold statues, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 7 Finalists (see previous story). The next best performances came from India and Japan.
China – 1 Grand LIA, 4 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze, 7 Finalists
India – 2 Gold, 1 Bronze, 4 Finalists
Japan – 1 Gold, 6 Silver, 1 Bronze, 6 Finalists
Malaysia – 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 5 Bronze, 5 Finalists
Hong Kong – 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Finalists
Australia – 11 Silver, 20 Bronze, 7 Finalists
Thailand – 3 Silver, 3 Bronze 15 Finalists
Philippines – 2 Silver, 1 Bronze, 3 Finalists
Singapore – 5 Bronze, 4 Finalists
Individual highlights from LIA are detailed below:
China
JWT Shanghai won the Print Grand LIA for Samsonite Suitcase titled “Heaven and Hell”. In addition this piece of work picked up four Gold Statues – one in the Poster category and three Gold Statues in Print (Use of Illustration, Art Direction and Personal/Gift Items) .Other winning agencies from China include DDB China, Shanghai with one Bronze Statue in The NEW Category for Gatorade “D.I.Y Street Basketball”, as well as two Finalist. Proximity China, Beijing won a Silver in The NEW Category for Volkswagen “The People’s Car Project” and attained two Finalists
India
Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai and Nirvana Films, Bangalore both won their Gold Statues for Indian Railway titled “Train” in TV/Cinema/Online Films – Music Adaptation. Contract Advertising, Gurgaon, won one Bronze Statue in The NEW Category for JK Tyre titled “Soles With Souls”
Hong Kong
Leo Burnett, Hong Kong was the only company from Hong Kong to win metal. Their work for Greenpeace titled “Melt”, “Drought” and “Flood” won Gold for Print – Use of Illustration Campaign and Silver for Print – Public Service/Social Welfare Campaign. The same piece of work also was a Finalist in Poster – Public Service/Social Welfare Campaign.
Japan
Aoi Advertising Promotion Inc. Tokyo in Japan was the only Japanese agency to win Gold. The agency won their for SOUR titled “Mirror” in Digital – Innovation. Their other Statue, a Bronze, was won for the same piece of work in The NEW Category. Other winning companies from Japan included Dentsu Inc., Tokyo who won two Silver Statues and one Finalist -Silver in Digital Apparel for UNIQLO Special Sale titled “UNIQLO Lucky Line” and Silver in Integrated Campaigns for Kyushu Shinkansen Bullet Train titled “The 250KM Wave”.
Dentsu Kansai Inc., Osaka won one Silver in Design – Poster Campaign for Exhibition of Asian Advertising titled “The Ultra Asian Campaign”
Eight Branding Design Co., Ltd, Tokyo also won a Silver in Design – Environmental Installations/Displays – Permanent for Shironiwadai Kindergarten. Ogilvy & Mather Japan, Tokyo won Silver in Design – Brand Identity – Local for SHU’S Corporate Tool titled “Chemical Reaction Corporate Stationery”. Tokyu Agency, Tokyo won Silver in Design – Use of Typography for Graphic Explanation in Advertisement.
Malaysia
Ogilvy Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur was the big winner from Malaysia. Their Pictionary Campaign “Jet-Fighter”, “T-Rex” and “Wrestler” won a Gold in Print – Consumer Campaign and Silver in Poster – Campaign. They were also picked up five Bronze Statues for the same Pictionary work. Ogilvy Malaysia awarded had two additional Finalists for Panadol Extra titled “Traffic Blues” in the categories of Print – Art Direction and Print – Cosmetics/Toiletries/Pharmaceuticals.
Philippines
BBDO Guerrero/Proximity, Makati City won a Silver Statue in TV/Cinema/Online Film – Cosmetics/Toiletries/Pharmaceuticals with their work for Saridon titled “Hammer.” Their other statue, a Bronze, was for Saridon titled “Butcher”, “Carpenter” and “Laundry” in Poster – Campaign. They also placed as a Finalist for the same Campaign in Print – Consumer Campaign. Campaigns and Grey, Makati City also honoured picked up a Silver statue for their work for Ducolax titled “Louis” in Radio – Use of Music.
Singapore
Both Lowe, Singapore and The Gunnery, Singapore won Bronze for Samroc Paint Colour Mixing. The Agency Lowe and the Production Company The Gunnery won in the Radio category of Campaign for the spots titled “Awesome Light”, “Chase”, “Bus Stop”, “Slap”, “Chainsaw” and “Look at Me Dad!.” The single entry “Awesome Light” won Bronze for both these companies in Radio – Retail Foods and Stores.
DDB Singapore picked up a Bronze in Design – Posters for ACRES: Animal Concerns Research & Education Society
Thailand
Euro RSCG Bangkok was the star agency from Thailand with two Silver Statues. Their work for Shieldtox Naturgard titled “Frog” won two Silver Statues; one in Print – Household Products; the other in Poster – Household Products. They also attained were a Finalist for a second execution in the campaign for “Chameleon”. Other winning companies in Thailand included Y&R Thailand with a Silver in Radio for the Ichitan Double Drink campaign titled “Pet”, “Bully”, ” Asteroid” and “Killer Bees”. Creative Juice/Bangkok (TBWA) also won two Bronze Statues for M Wrap titled “Fish”, “Chicken” and “Pork”. Leo Burnett Group Thailand won a Bronze in TV/Cinema/Online Film – Banking/Financial for TMB Corporate Branding titled “Panyee FC”.
