AdFest announces Fabulous Four – will present their short films to at ADFEST 2012 next month

The “Fabulous Four” directors who will present their short films to premiere at ADFEST 2012 have been named.

The 2012 Fabulous Four directors were selected from a total of 24 up-and-coming directors from 11 cities, who submitted scripts to this year’s competition.

Their scripts were judged by the 2012 ADFEST Film Craft Lotus and New Director Lotus Jury, overseen by Jury President George Mackenzie, regional managing director of The Sweet Shop in Auckland and Sydney.

Selected are:

Md. Humaun Kabir Manik, Director, Dhaka ‘A Strange Life’

Hasib Hasan Chowdhury, Assistant Director, Bottomline Productions, Dhaka, ‘The Shooting Star’

Keisuke Hakomori, Director, Bis Inc, Tokyo, ‘Time Spent Together’

Ariel Martin, Director, Filmgraphics Entertainment, Sydney, ‘The Future Shooter’

Manik, Chowdhury, Hakomori and Martin will now have just one month to transform their film scripts into short films. Over the next few weeks, they must cast, direct, edit and complete their films in time for their premiere at ADFEST 2012.

Fabulous Four is the region’s most respected showcase of emerging directors. Every year, new directors and assistant directors from around the Asia Pacific are invited to submit a five-minute short film script based on the theme of ADFEST. This year’s theme is ‘FAST FORWARD’.

“We would like to congratulate the Fabulous Four 2012, who have a bright future ahead of them,” says ADFEST President Jimmy Lam. “Fabulous Four is a launch pad for up-and-coming directors, and a chance for them to make their first ‘big break’,” says Lam.

Vinit Suraphongchai, chairman of the ADFEST Working Committee, says ADFEST is committed to supporting young creative professionals in the early stages of their careers. “It is not easy for young directors today to break into the industry, so Fabulous Four is designed to give ambitious young professionals the chance to hone their talents, put their names in the spotlight, and receive invaluable feedback from some of the industry’s most respected producers, directors and creative directors.”

ADFEST 2012 takes place on 18th – 20th March, 2012 at PEACH, Royal Cliff Hotels Group, Pattaya, Thailand.
