McCann name new executive committee in Korea
McCann Worldgroup has established a new interim executive committee to manage its Korea operation following the imminent departure of T Kim, president / CEO McCann Worldgroup Korea.
T has over 23 years of agency experience, 21 of those spent with McCann where he has headed the Korean office since 2004. He will leave the agency in mid-August to take on a challenge outside the advertising industry.
Said Charles Cadell, president, McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, “I would like to thank T for his dedication and commitment over the past two decades, and particularly for his contribution in driving the growth and elevation of our Korean agency. We wish him the very best for this next stage in his professional career which is an exciting one.
“Moving forward, it is critical that we find the right person for this role, but in light of our very strong existing management team, we are in no rush to do so,” Cadell continued.
In the interim, an ExCo will assume full management of the agency, building upon its successful track record and accelerating McCann’s transformation in this market. Yasuyuki Katagi, president, McCann Worldroup North Asia – Japan / Korea will oversee the overall agency management, Kyu Koh, SVP / CFO, McCann Worldgroup Korea, will continue to hold financial responsibilities, and together SJ Kim, VP / GM, McCann Korea, and Jay Hwang, group managing director, McCann Health Worldwide Korea will manage agency operations and client services.
“We have a highly capable ExCo in place. Yasu is a proven strategic leader, and SJ, Kyu and Jay have been playing critical roles in the management of the agency together with T – they can be credited for much of the success McCann achieved during this period. I have every confidence that under the leadership of this ExCo team, the agency will continue to realise exceptional creativity, innovation and performance for our clients,” Cadell added.
