London International Awards 2012: 11 Gold Statues to Asia with Japan, Malaysia, China, The Philippines and India all bringing home Gold
This year’s London International Awards (LIA) saw a strong performance from Asian agencies across the region. Japan lead Asia’s performance with a total of 12 Statues that included 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze. China scored 7 Statues this year with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze. They were closely followed by The Philippines with 6 Statues made up of 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. Malaysia did well to win 4 Statues out of which 3 were Gold and India also received a Gold.
Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai and McCann Erickson Malaysia were Asia’s only multiple Gold winners with both agencies awarded two Statues.

McCann Erickson Malaysia – Gold in Radio – Innovative Use of Radio for Breast Cancer Awareness – ANYTIME Campaign titled “Audrey”, “Freda” and “Yameen”.
Y&R Malaysia – Gold in Design – Art Direction Campaign for Penguin Books – More Than Just The Classics titled “Fairy Tales”, “Hobbies”, “Languages”, “Music” and “Travel”
BBDO Guerrero Philippines – Gold in The NEW category for Pepsi titled “Bottle Light”.
Lowe Philippines – Gold in Radio – Music Original – Song for Hit Productions titled “It’s Been Done”
Hakuhodo Inc. Tokyo – Gold in Design – Branded Content for Google Maps titled “8 BIT”
Dentsu Inc. Tokyo – Gold in Design – Poster Campaign for their East Japan Railway Company campaign
I&S BBDO Inc. Tokyo – Gold in Design – Client Promotion for Umino Seaweed Store titled “Design NORI”
RDP, Mumbai – Gold in TV/Cinema/Online Film – Production/Post-Production – Direction for Times of India Mumbai Mirror titled “I Am Mumbai”.

The 27th annual LIA judging session was held at the Wynn/Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period in September with the addition of seminars and one-on-one ‘Creative Conversations’.
The juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium ensuring that all the work was judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists. Grand LIAs are chosen from the Golds, within their respective media. It is not mandatory for a Jury to select a Grand LIA.
Barbara Levy, President of LIA stated, “This year’s Juries worked diligently, sometimes late into the night to be sure all entries were given their due consideration. The results reflect the Juries’ lengthy discussions and sometimes heated debates. With judging running simultaneously with the ‘Creative Conversations’ for over 60 individually selected, Young Creatives from around the world there was much going on and the vibe was phenomenal.”
There were a total of five Grand LIAs awarded worldwide this year:
CP+B, Boulder won the Grand LIA in Integrated Campaign for American Express titled “Small Business Gets an Official Day“.
R/GA, New York were awarded Grand LIA in Non-Traditional for Nike titled “Nike+ FuelBand“.
BETC, Paris picked up the Grand LIA in TV/Cinema/Online Film for Canal+ titled “The Bear”.
Creative Artists Agency, Los Angeles and Duotone Audio Group, New York were both awarded Grand LIAs in TV/Cinema/Online Film – Music for Chipotle titled “Back to the Start”.
serviceplan, Munich won the Grand LIA in Radio for Voluntary Humanitarian Organisation titled “Radio Ghosts”.
LIA has also awarded Network of the Year, Agency of the Year, Production Company of the Year and Post-Production Company of the Year. These winners were decided based on the outstanding work chosen by the Juries across all media.
