From animal stall to orchestra hall, The Sweet Shop partners with Big Cola and Saatchi Bangkok to show what happens when you think big

Big Cola Still_1.jpgThe Sweet Shop director Mario Zozin and Saatchi & Saatchi Bangkok have partnered with Big Cola to create a new, visually remarkable piece that takes human ingenuity and boundless inspiration to new heights.  Through the seamless integration of live animals and subtle computer effects, Zozin introduces a humble zookeeper with big dreams as he turns a band of wild animals into a masterful vocal orchestra in a spot that shows what can happen when people have the courage to be extraordinary.

“This project offered all the things I enjoy about filmmaking, including challenges that felt familiar yet exciting”, said Zozin.  “Working with over a dozen wild animals in South-Africa was a unique experience, as were the weeks spent exploring our audio options to find out which of those animals were important and made for the best composition.  All of this – combined with a lengthy visual effects process – led to a truly big story that I am quite proud to have brought to life.”

Big Cola_2.jpgBig Cola_3.jpgPeter Tresize, the Senior Digital Artist at Post Bangkok, said: “It’s a nice story about a zookeeper with big ideas and provided a challenging opportunity to assemble real material into an almost impossible scenario.”

“The Big Cola project was an immensely challenging yet profoundly rewarding one, purely because we knew that totally new audio production techniques were required as well as a deeper than normal collaboration from all participants,” said Orchestral Composer Gerard Fitzgerald.  “Thankfully, everyone at The Sweet Shop was on board with the challenges facing us right from the start.”

The spot, entitled ‘Zookeeper’, is another example of director Zozin’s ability to push new techniques while simultaneously reimagining old ones in order to tell a story both fresh and classic.
