Fadjar Rusli: Rest in peace

Fadjar.jpgCampaign Brief Asia is very sad to report that well known Indonesian creative Fadjar Rusli died of a heart attack over the weekend. Fadjar is a former Indonesian creative director who turned film director. He was extremely well known and liked for his efforts in the early 2000s to put an international spotlight on the local Indonesian advertising industry.

Fadjar (pictured left at our recent Campaign Brief party in Jakarta) was a good friend to Campaign Brief. Fadjar was always smiling, always joking and always ready to help out. He was the first person to introduce us to the Indonesian industry and, whilst involved in the local Citra Pariwara Awards show, also introduced many of Asia’s most respected creative directors to the improving standards of creativity amongst agencies in Jakarta.

Fadjar’s past career included creative director postings at Fortune Indonesia and Matari Advertising, the largest Indonesian advertising agency at the time. He was a regular judge and delegate at international awards shows. Over recent years he had turned his hand to a successful directing career.

Our thoughts, and those of all his friends in the advertising industry, go to his family and very close friends in Jakarta.

Rest in peace Fadjar – you were a very good man.
