ChrisSwift_RoyWisnu.jpgCampaign Brief Asia hears Indonesia’s most awarded creative director Roy Wisnu is returning to Jakarta to lead the creative department at Lowe & Partners Indonesia.

He is set to replace former chief creative officer Din Sumedi, who resigned from the agency late last year and has now signed on with Ogilvy in Jakarta. The news has not been confirmed yet by Lowe’s regional headquarters, however it has freely been spoken about within the Indonesian creative industry and at AdFest this year.

The highly regarded Wisnu (pictured on the right) has not worked in Indonesia since moving from Ogilvy & Mather Jakarta, where he was creative director, to Singapore in early 2006. He spent two years at Ogilvy & Mather Singapore teamed with copywriter Chris Swift (pictured on the left) before the duo moved to New York to join JWT as a team, working under former Batey Ads Singapore awarded creative Andy Clarke.

At JWT New York Wisnu and Swift enjoyed huge awards success winning, amongst others, a rare D&AD Black Pencil and Gold at both Cannes Lions and One Show for a Human Rights Watch campaign. The installation at New York’s Grand Central Station and highlighted the plight of political prisoners in Burma, and encouraged people to sign a petition calling for their release.

The installation consisted of two hundred miniature prison cells. A closer look revealed that the cell bars were actually pens. Visitors could remove the pens to symbolically free the prisoners, and then use them to sign the petition.

In mid-2012 Wisnu resigned from JWT to join McCann New York as a creative director.
