JWT China’s Yang Yeo to leave the network to join an, as yet, unnamed independent agency
After seven years with JWT, Yang Yeo, China Chairman and North Asia ECD, will be leaving the agency to take on a new ECD role with an independent agency, thought to be Wieden + Kennedy Shanghai.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at JWT, one of the best network agencies in my humble opinion, and will miss the wonderful and talented people in the Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul and Tokyo offices,” said Yeo.
During his tenure, JWT has become one of Asia’s creative powerhouses, winning ‘Agency of the Year’, ‘Network of the Year’, ‘Brand of the Year’, and China’s first Cannes Lions Grand Prix. Yeo inspired and groomed some of Asia’s best creative talent and injected fun into JWT’s North Asian agencies.
“JWT will always have a very special place in my heart. The consolation is that I’m leaving the network in great shape and can see that the APAC operation will only get stronger under the spiritual leadership of Lo Sheung Yan and Tom Doctoroff.”
“We are grateful for Yang’s contribution in building JWT North Asia into its current position of strength. He will be missed by his comrades from the region as he’s truly an inspiring leader,” said Lo Sheung Yan, Chairman, Asia Pacific Creative Council.
“We will miss the strong voice and vision of Yang and extend our deep thanks for the talent he has nurtured over the past seven years. His legacy is well planted,” said Doctoroff.
Yeo, who will leave JWT in July, will announce his next move in due course. JWT is looking for his successor and expects to announce that appointment in the near future.
