Florence Wai-Kwan Kong joins McCann & Spencer Hong Kong as MD replacing Dave McCaughan who leaves network after 28 years
McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific has announced that Florence Wai-Kwan Kong, director of client services at TBWA\Tequila Hong Kong, has been appointed general manager, McCann & Spencer Hong Kong, effective mid March 2015. She replaces Dave McCaughan who is leaving the McCann network after 28 years of service.
Wai-Kwan Kong (pictured left) will be responsible for overseeing the Agency’s business portfolio, which includes; L’Oreal, Darlie and Wyeth in partnership with Spencer Wong, CEO and creative chairman, McCann & Spencer.
In addition to Wai-Kwan Kong’s appointment, Richard McCabe (right), regional planning director, McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific will relocate from his current Singapore base to join Wong’s new management line up in Hong Kong in March.
Charles Cadell, president McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific said on the management appointments, “McCann & Spencer is recognised for its creative excellence and we’re very excited by the re set the Agency is taking to continually provide our clients with best in class solutions. With Florence and Richard joining Spencer in Hong Kong, we’re looking forward to another dynamic year.”
McCaughan (left) first joined McCann Erickson in Perth before moving to McCann in Sydney as national planning director and has held various senior roles across the network, including; regional planning director, president of McCann Thailand, general manager of McCann Tokyo and more recently managing director of McCann Hong Kong.
On McCaughan’s departure Cadell said, “Dave has made an incredible contribution not only to McCann, but also our clients and the Asian advertising industry as a whole. He introduced and led the Agency’s consumer insight division for 16 years and played an instrumental role in bringing consumer research and insights to the forefront of our business across Asia. We thank Dave for his on-going commitment to our network and our clients, and wish him all the very best.”
The moves come just a few weeks after McCann Hong Kong underwent a name change and rebrand to McCann & Spencer, reflecting the shareholding taken up by long time creative leader Spencer Wong.
