The Gunn Report 2015: BBDO ranked #1 network in the world: Leo Burnett ranked #2 in the world
The Gunn Report, the global index of creative excellence in advertising, has released its 2015 Report summarising the overall performance of the advertising industry in the year January to December 2015 based on the results of 45 global, regional and national creative award contests.
In the Most Awarded Networks BBDO is again the top ranking Network with Leo Burnett moving up from #3 to the runner-up position. DDB fills the #3 spot. McCann is a big improver, moving up from #9 to #5. Grey also makes big increases – up from #16 to #9. The Dentsu, TBWA and Saatchi & Saatchi networks all dropped
Dentsu Tokyo is the highest ranked agency in Asia, coming in at number 7 this year (down from #2 last year). Hakuhodo Inc and Hakuhodo Kettle (Tokyo) come in at equal #18.
Lowe China’s “Human Traffic Signs” campaign and BBDO Proximity Malaysia’s KFC “Burger”/”Drumstick”/”French Fries” campaign fills the first two places in the Most Awarded Print/Out of Home category.
Y&R Shanghai’s Penguin Audio Books “Moby Dick”/”Alice”/”Dracula” campaign is ranked at equal 8th. Colgate’s “Education In A Box” campaign via Red Fuse Hong Kong is ranked 13th and Lowe Indonesia’s Pureit “Rural”/”Urban” campaign is ranked 26th.
In the Film category Asia didn’t perform very well with 2014’s Nike “Every Yard Count” via JWT India being the highest ranked commercial at #19.
In the Digital category rankings Nike’s “House Of Mamba” from AKQA (London / Shanghai) and Samsung “Look At Me” out of Cheil Worldwide Korea are both in equal 4th place.
For the tenth year in a row, BBDO Worldwide has won the Gunn Report as the most creative agency network in the world (no other agency network has ever won more than twice).
Says Donald Gunn, a champion of creativity and founder of The Gunn Report: “The great thing about the advertising industry is how quickly it evolves. With so many great ideas coming from all over the world, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of all the inspirational break-through work and who’s behind it.
“We’ve analysed the results of the most important awards to bring valuable insight, data and clarity of the best creative ideas of 2015. Ideas and trends that will no doubt impact on this coming year and beyond.”
Says Jeremy Craigen, The Gunn Report 2015 guest editor and global chief creative officer of Innocean Worldwide, who has contributed his own personal commentary to the report and awards tables: “I’ve always been a huge fan of The Gunn Report. It gives you a far broader picture of the industry that no one award show alone can do. And judging by the work I’ve seen, I’d say 2015 was a pretty good vintage.”
The ranking tables, accompanying ads and commentaries as well as country comparisons (population and ad market size/ranking) are now available to view online at www.gunnreport.com. The 100 top commercials appearing on the Showreel of The Year will follow shortly.
The Gunn Report for Media 2015 will be released shortly and The Gunn Report Book and Showreel of the Year 2015 DVD will be available in mid-March.
