Yee Wai Khuen joins Y&R Hong Kong as ECD
Y&R Hong Kong has appointed Yee Wai Khuen as of Executive Creative Director as part of the agency’s continued push towards full integration of creative, digital and data analytics.
Yee (pictured), as he is affectionately known, always dreamt of becoming a comic artist. But he decided to go for a less lucrative career as an Art Director instead. He soon became a Digital Creative Director and has worked for some of Southeast Asia’s most renowned agencies in his native Malaysia and Singapore.
With more than 15 years of experience in creative advertising, Yee has a strong focus on all areas of art direction, conceptual, digital campaigns, mobile, social media, branded content and brand experience. He has worked on multiple major brands including Kraft, MeadJohnson, Nestle, Pizza Hut, Mattel, Guinness, Tiger Beer, HP, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.
Many of Yee’s projects have been recognized at major award shows like D&AD, Cannes, London international Awards, OneShow, Clio, Adfest, Spikes and Ogilvy Malaysia’s very first Gold Lion at Cannes. In fact, Yee’s campaign for Mattel was 2012’s most-awarded campaign according to the Gunn Report.
Commenting on his new role, Yee said, “Joining Y&R Hong Kong as it continues to grow has a dynamic start-up feel, winning new business and building out new offerings like its ‘1-to-1’ data analytics arm. I’m also looking forward to exploring my Cantonese heritage fully immersed in my first language!”
Yee will work alongside Y&R Hong Kong General Manager Beverly Ho who added, “These are exciting times for creativity as technology constantly expands the possibilities for client solutions. Yee is the perfect choice to drive our creative capabilities to be more digital, more integrated and more effective.”
