Tokio Marine Life Insurance champions family values in legacy planning via #MyGiftToYou
Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore (TMLS) launched a new campaign themed #MyGiftToYou, to pay tribute to the long Asian tradition of leaving a legacy for their family.
This campaign has been developed with Singaporean and Asian cultures in mind, where our legacy for our children lives on in what we leave behind. Inspired by the concept of family heirlooms, #MyGiftToYou aims to connect with Asian parents’ sentiments towards the inculcation of values in their children as part of the legacy planning process. Findings of a wealth transfer survey found that Asian families are more concerned about value transfer than families elsewhere in the world, and many are determined to equip their children with the timeless principles of hard work, passion and discipline that underpinned their own success.
“Inheritance of value and culture has been an integral part of Asian traditions. What one leaves behind is as important as what one achieves in life, and it is crucial to Asians to impart the qualities ofprudence, hard work and financial savviness to their children,” noted James Tan, Chief Executive Officer of TMLS. “This has also been reflected in the tradition of passing down of treasured items dear. We see a life insurance policy in the same space as the values and heirlooms – they are left behind to provide lasting protection and security for the next generation.”
#MyGiftToYou references the common Asian tradition of passing down family heirlooms, and the values behind this simple act. Inheritance can manifest in different forms, be it a treasured watch or jewellery, or actual financial support. It is not always easy to choose, but individuals in Asia often have the same starting point – they want to ensure that their loved ones feel comforted and protected, but maintain the incentive, drive and ambition to succeed.
This new campaign encourages a proactive approach towards protection for our loved ones, which was also a key theme in TMLS’ well-received #MyLoveForYou campaign last year. #MyGiftToYou further demonstrates TMLS’ ongoing commitment to providing customers with a comprehensive range of protection solutions suitable for wider family protection needs:
• TM Term Assure is an affordable and comprehensive term plan that covers for death, terminali llness and total and permanent disability.
• TM Term VIP is a term plan designed for affluent families who wish to have higher protection
coverage. The sum assured starts from SGD/USD1.5 million and above, with an option to add
the Protect 1 VIP rider for more comprehensive cover. It is also the only rider in Singapore that
pays out a monthly benefit should you lose ability to perform just one of the six Activities of
Daily Living (ADL). The payout is for a continuous period of 72 months (6 years).
Both products are designed to ensure sufficient coverage and functions as an option for legacy planning needs and income replacement.
