Leo Burnett named Malaysian Creative Agency of the Year for second successive year: Hakuhodo’s Vince Lee tops Malaysia Hottest Creatives list
For the second year running Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur heads the Campaign Brief Asia Malaysia Creative Rankings.
Leo Burnett has 395 Creative Ranking Points from the past 2 years performances at award shows and takes out the Campaign Brief Asia’s 2018 Malaysia Creative Agency of the Year title.
Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur moved up to #1 in Malaysia last year from #5 position in 2016.
In 2018 the agency scored 130 Creative Ranking Points with award winning performances at AdStars and Campaign Brief’s The Work. Pictured left is Tan Kien Eng CEO of Leo Burnett Malaysia.
In #2 position overall in Malaysia with 110 Creative Ranking Points is Ensemble Worldwide. This is the first year Ensemble has featured in our Creative Rankings, after being not ranked last year.
#3 with 75 points is Hakuhodo Malaysia, also a new entrant to the Creative Rankings.
At #4 in Malaysia with 60 points is Naga DDB Tribal. They were placed #2 in last year’s Creative Rankings.
At #5 and #6 respectively is Isobar Malaysia and Grey Group Malaysia. Both were also unranked last year.
For the second year in a row several agencies with award-winning pedigrees in Malaysia failed to even make the Creative Ranking table. BBDO Malaysia (the #1 agency in 2016), Y&R Malaysia (#2 in 2016), TBWA Kuala Lumpur (#3 in 2016), Ogilvy Malaysia (#4 in 2016), amongst other remain unranked.
The Malaysia Hottest Creatives table is this year lead by Hakuhodo Malaysia’s Vince Lee (pictured below top) with 565 Creative Ranking Points. He is followed by two Hakuhodo colleagues – Nicholas Kosasih (#2 with 440 points, pictured bottom on left) and Kok Seng (#3 with 240 points, pictured botton on right). The Malaysia Hottest Creatives table for this year is a little unusual in that Lee, Kosasih and Seng’s award winning performances were mostly for campaigns they worked on helping out sister agency Hakuhodo Indonesia (indicated via the * on the Malaysia Hottest Creatives 2018 table below).
At equal #4 this year is Leo Burnett’s Abby Tai and Wing Jing Wei with 160 Creative Ranking Points.
#6 with 135 points is Hakuhodo’s Hoh Woon Siew, who also was involved with campaigns for sister agency Hakuhodo Indonesia.
With 75 points and at equal #7 is Loo Kok Seng and Ray Goh from Hakuhodo.
Equal #9 with 60 points is Charlene Ong (Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur), and Jeremy Yeoh and Simon Yip from Naga DDB Tribal Malaysia.
