Ogilvy takes out Agency of the Year gong at Hong Kong’s Kam Fan Awards: Cheil Worldwide wins the only Kam Fan best of category award

Ogilvy Hong Kong has taken out the prestigious 2018 Agency of the Year gong at the Hong Kong Kam Fan awards. Ogilvy beat another of the night’s top performers, Cheil Worldwide, for the evening’s top award.

In total, Ogilvy picked up 4 Gold, 9 Silver, 3 Bronze and 18 Merit awards for clients including KFC, Marriott Hotels and Medicines Sans Frontiers.

Client of the Year at the Kam Fan Awards went to Ogilvy client Marriott Hotels.

This year’s jury, headed by BBDO Bangkok’s Suthisak Sucharittanonta, only awarded one Kam Fan best of category grand prix award and that went to Cheil Worldwide’s JBL “World Leaders” print work.

No overall Grand Kam Fan was awarded.

10 Gold, 32 Silver and 17 Bronze awards were handed out on the night.

Ogilvy won 4 Golds for their KFC “Hot & Spicy” print campaign.

Cheil Worldwide also won 4 Gold awards – all for their JBL “Block out the Chaos” print campaign. Cheil also won 6 Silver, 3 Bronze and 8 Merit awards.

J Walter Thompson Hong Kong was the only other agency to win Gold – winning Gold for both for Save the Children “Musical Chairs” and Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association “SOS Waiting”.

The evening was also memorable for the retirement of long-serving Kam Fan Awards organiser Angela Ng (pictured below on left). Ng’s involvement in Hong Kong’s most prestigious awards show spans almost 20 years.
