Déjà vu? Versatile Hong Kong Ballet branding campaign can also sell washing machines
They say “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. If this is true then the manufacturers of Little Swan Washing Machines in China are huge fans of the Hong Kong Ballet.
When the Hong Kong Ballet turned to the Washington-based and globally acclaimed, Design Army for their new branding campaign early last year they were looking for wildly creative and unexpected bold, rich colours and mind-blowing midair contortions.
Well, it seems that Little Swan also had this same vision… to sell their Washing Machines.
Remarkably, Little Swan Washing Machines, late last month, released their own online social media campaign on Weibo and WeChat and many commentators are suggesting it maybe drew it’s inspiration fromDesign Army’s great work for the Hong Kong Ballet.
There are 3 executions for Little Swan Washing Machines and here we compare them to the Hong Kong Ballet campaign.
If any reader knows which ad or design agency “created” the Little Swan campaign could they let CB Asia know, as we’re sure Hong Kong Ballet would love to chat about a creative fee!

What were they thinking!
Welcome to China creativity if it originally exists at all. Someone once went on stage to say that copying is good, empowering this despicable behaviour even more. Just shameless and a scorn to the industry.
