Having established thriving post production operations in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Manila, PixelBox Group has expanded their creative and post production footprint with the opening of their new Tokyo office.
The move into the Japanese market adds even more ‘firepower’ to the flourishing PixelBox network. The new Japan office is in partnership with SYN music, whose establishment PixelBox will be sharing. SYN have a similar arrangement with PixelBox in Manila.
PixelBox was founded in HK in 2007, and extended its full-service post-production capabilities into mainland China in 2013. The new facility in Manila was launched in 2018. PixelBox also represent Underpants, one of New Zealand’s leading Animation/VFX Studios.
“We enjoy a great relationship with Nick Wood and his team at SYN, so this move makes a lot of sense. Of course, with the 2020 Olympics and 2025 World Expo approaching in Japan, now just seemed the right time’ said PixelBox Founder Chris Thorp (above left).
SYN Co-Founder Nick Wood (above right) said: “SYN has always strived to collaborate with the best visual artists, film makers and creators who share of our passion for great storytelling through stunning visuals and sound. Collaborating with Chris and PixelBox is a fantastic opportunity for us to again unite our unique set of skills under one roof”.
PixelBox GM Stephen Douglas (above middle) said: “With the opportunities available in the Japanese market, opening an office there makes perfect sense. We’re currently enjoying an extremely busy and exciting period of growth for the network across all offices…so keeping the momentum going is paramount. While we’re in the process of establishing our resources in Tokyo, we’ll be servicing local work out of my good friend Timo’s new company Connection, as well as servicing work remotely across our Asia network”.
