The Woolmark Company continues to focus on sustainability via new Mother Shanghai campaign
The Woolmark Company has teamed up with Mother Shanghai to invite you on a journey with artists behind ‘Sleep No More’ in Shanghai to a forest once ravaged by wildfires in a unique performance art event. Leveraging the recovering landscape to form our immersive performance theatre stage in the middle of a burnt forest.
Merino Wool doesn’t extract resources like many other synthetic fibres. Instead, Merino Wool comes from nature and gives back to nature. As part of our ongoing “Merino Wool, Live with Nature” campaign with The Woolmark Company, RETURN demonstrates through performance art that Merino Wool, a planet-friendly fibre, can lift some burden for our Earth.
Merino Wool is naturally biodegradable, this project is about returning the wool to nature. Featuring performers cocooned in 100% natural plant-dyed Merino Wool garments, who walk in colours down the unpaved, damaged land. Then, the full lineup disrobes and buries their garments into the soil in synchronicity at the finale highlight. Returning wool to nature, lifting some burden from our Earth.
Winson & Wanshi, Partners of Mother Shanghai, said: “Just about a year ago, with temperatures abnormally high, about 30 wildfires ravaged through flora and fauna of the Chongqing forests – with around 3,000 acres of land affected. We wanted to make sure this wasn’t forgotten. So to create impact, we teamed up with artists behind ‘Sleep No More’ in Shanghai to devise an immersive performance at a forest once ravaged by wildfires. RETURN is the result of that collaboration.”
