Former F1 champion Jenson Button unwinds in Singapore Tourism Board’s latest campaign

Thinking of a relaxing getaway in the city? Join former F1 world champion Jenson Button as he redefines what it means to unwind in Singapore. From gliding above Sentosa’s beaches to riding aboard a high-speed boat at Marina Bay, Button reveals some of Singapore’s most exhilarating experiences in a new video as part of a collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

The collaboration is part of STB’s latest Made in Singapore global campaign to inspire travellers to choose Singapore as their next travel destination. The campaign spotlights how ordinary moments are transformed into extraordinary and unique experiences to capture mindshare for Singapore as international travel recovers.

True to his adventure-seeking nature, Button took the plunge from a 45-metre-high giant swing at Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett, where he soared up to speeds of 120km/h. Instead of kicking back and relaxing at the beach, Button embarked on a high-speed race at the newly opened HyperDrive, Asia’s first indoor gamified electric go-kart circuit with a three-level racetrack at The Palawan @ Sentosa. The British motorsports star also cut through the waves on a rigid-hulled buoyancy boat (RHIB) – commonly used for military and emergency operations – with RHIB Rides Singapore, where he experienced the Marina Bay Street Circuit from a different perspective.

Button was in Singapore during the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2023, seven years after his last visit in 2016 to compete in the race. This was his first time soaking in the sights and sounds of the city.

Button said: “Exploring Singapore beyond the F1 track for the first time is an eye- opening experience, as the city is just overflowing with cultures, traditions and cuisines. There is so much to discover, with something unexpected at every turn – from old school buildings juxtaposed against modern architectural marvels, to hawker fare served up alongside world- class restaurants.”

Choo Huei Miin, Director, Brand, STB, said: “We are thrilled to partner Jenson Button as he puts a high-octane spin on a relaxing good time in Singapore. Jenson’s penchant for speed and passion for adventures are a perfect match for Singapore’s vibrancy and energy. Through such creative collaborations, we hope to drive interest and reach a wider global audience to inspire travel to Singapore.”
