Singtel highlights its 10Gbps broadband capabilities via new spot, ‘The Corridor’
Singtel has launched a new film on 10Gbps broadband and the evolution and impact of technology in enriching lives. Titled ‘The Corridor’, the 90-second film takes viewers through the days of dial-up modems and pagers to the latest ultra-fast 10Gbps broadband available today. It also demonstrates how Singtel has been bridging distances and strengthening bonds between families and communities.
At the heart of the story is the ubiquitous HDB corridor that all Singaporeans are familiar with. Often seen as functional, these shared spaces have supported childhoods, friendships, and social engagements over the years. Singtel’s ‘The Corridor’ offers a fresh take on these spaces by depicting the story of neighbours, who formed connections and happy memories along their HDB corridor, using technology.
‘The Corridor’ features teenager, Vanessa, taking a trip down memory lane when looking at an old photograph. She recalls many cherished, endearing moments spent with her neighbours. From Uncle Leong teaching Vanessa to ride a bike to Auntie Farrah giving Vanessa a DIY haircut, the film captures the meaningful, everyday moments and connections that have helped to build the foundation of their collective Singaporean experience.
Vanessa revives the “Big Family” chat group, which comprises all her neighbours, and asks them to gather for a special reunion to recreate one of the old photos. Watch ‘The Corridor’ to see how the story unfolds.
Ng Tian Chong, CEO, Singtel Singapore, said: “Technology plays such a significant role in helping communities to build connections and maintain relationships. As the leading connectivity provider in Singapore, Singtel is privileged to have been a part of countless memories and shared experiences of millions of people over the decades. With Chinese New Year being a time for reunions and reconnections, we wanted to share a slice of the Singaporean experience and highlight how technology has brought families and communities together over the years. As Singapore gears up for SG60, it’s an opportune time to reflect on how far we’ve come, the connections we’ve forged and the values that unite us as Singaporeans.”
‘The Corridor’ is the final chapter from Singtel’s Possibilities Anthology and is part of the telco’s ‘Hello Possibilities’ brand platform campaign.
The Possibilities Anthology which features six other short films about festive celebrations, including ‘Hello Raya‘, ‘Hello Mom’s Day’, ‘First Father’s Day’, ‘Lift, Hello Singapore’, ‘Lights Out, Hello Deepavali’, and ‘Secret Ingredient, Hello Christmas’ has reached more than 2 million across Singtel’s social media channels, achieving 8.4 million views since its launch in April 2024.
A key feature of the series has been its memorable characters, like Uncle Raju, a witty, tech-savvy influencer who breaks stereotypes by demonstrating that technology is for everyone, as well as Auntie Mei Lian and Auntie Farrah who demonstrate the inclusive power of digital tools in overcoming barriers and fostering meaningful connections.
These relatable personalities are central to Singtel’s strategy for showcasing how technology empowers everyone from small business owners to vulnerable communities.
