The Nine Shanghai and Jody Xiong win Grand Clio For Yotkan Ancient City in Xinjiang China’s ‘Magnificent’ at 2025 Clio Music Awards

The Nine Shanghai has won a Grand Prix at the 2025 Clio Music Awards for Yotkan Ancient City in Xinjiang, China’s ‘Magnificent’. This is the first Grand at the Clio Music Awards in the history of Greater China.

 

Jody Xiong(Xiong Chao), founder and Director of The Nine Shanghai, who created and directed the project, said: “The ‘Magnificent’ has won countless applause in the Chinese market and attracted tens of thousands of tourists to visit the ancient city. We are particularly proud of the commercial value brought by creativity. Life is like finding sugar in glass slag, and ‘Magnificent’ has also won recognition from major global advertising creative awards, including Bronze Lion at the 71st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Gold Cube at the 103rd ADC New York, and shortlisted for the Oscar Qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival. But for me personally, winning the Grand Clio is a great encouragement and affirmation for my career. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this work.”

In addition, The Nine Shanghai’s ‘Right and Wrong’ for Nooof Design Lab won a bronze statue, while ‘Flame Inside’ directed by Xiong for Keep and Karma Shanghai won two bronze statues.

From Asia, other top performing work included TBWA\HAKUHODO Tokyo’s McDonald’s ‘No Smiles’ campaign, which won a Grand and a Gold and Ogilvy Singapore’s Coca-Cola ‘Video Vinyl’, which won Asia’s only other Gold award.

Clio Music Awards, in collaboration with Billboard, the most authoritative publication in the European and American pop music industry, has launched Clio Music. The competition for Clio Music in 2025 is fierce, featuring the music trailer for ‘Anora’, the winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, as well as ‘Play It Safe’, the Grand Prix winner at the 71st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The Nine Shanghai was also crowned as Campaign Brief Asia’s 2024 China Agency of the Year, following the release of the 2024 Asia Creative Rankings.
