Havas Japan has appointed Shinsuke Sawasaki (Sawa) as Group Executive Creative Director, a newly created role aimed at shaping the agency’s creative vision and pushing the boundaries of storytelling and brand impact in the Japanese market.

A firm believer in the power of creativity to drive cultural relevance and business transformation, Sawasaki will lead the creative strategy for Havas Japan, working closely with Masashi Kitaichi, Executive Director of Havas Japan & Managing Director of Havas Red Japan, and reporting to Darrell Nelson, CEO of Havas Japan.

With over two decades of experience at agencies like We Are Social, Publicis, and J. Walter Thompson, Sawasaki has crafted award-winning campaigns for some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Kit Kat, P&G, Puma, and Häagen-Dazs. His work has been recognized at Spikes Asia, AdFest, Effies, and the New York Festivals Global Awards, where he has also served as a jury member. Most recently, he was appointed as a jury member for the Social Media category at The One Show 2025.

Darrell Nelson, CEO of Havas Japan, said: “Sawa is a creative powerhouse whose work blends innovation, cultural insight, and storytelling to create real impact. His leadership will not only elevate our creative ambition but also inspire ideas that shape the future of brands in Japan. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Havas family and can’t wait to see how he pushes us forward.”

Joji Jacob, Regional Chief Creative Officer, SEA & North Asia, said: “Japan is a very important market for us. With Sawa leading the creative efforts in our office there, we’re strengthening our ability to deliver culturally resonant work that makes a real difference in a market brimming with potential.”

Sawasaki added: “I am excited to take on this role and look forward to collaborating with the team to push creative boundaries and make an impact in Japan and beyond.”
