Havaianas and GIGIL find the footprint of nature in Metro Manila for Earth Day

The Philippines is congested with buildings, especially in the heart of Metro Manila. Green spaces cool down cities but can be rare to find, so while looking through Google Maps, there was a discovery that these green spaces struck a resemblance to a green footprint – or more fittingly, a pair of slippers.

This discovery was a perfect link to Havaianas’ #BreakTheRush campaign, created in partnership with GIGIL Manila/Katok, which is all about finding a brief moment of relaxation despite the fast-paced movements of everyday life.

A satellite image of the green space was captured and transformed into a branded visual resembling a Havaianas slipper, complete with the iconic logo and “Break The Rush” messaging. The ad was then posted on April 22, 2025 which coincided with the year’s Earth Day.

The post served as a call to action and a reminder to create more green spaces and parks in the country so that more Filipinos could unwind and take a break from their surroundings.
