Bestads Best TV of the Week: Campari’s ‘The Bartender’ via AKQA Italy

Each week Bestads showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by an esteemed international creative director or team. This week’s Best TV ad is Campari’s ‘The Bartender’ via AKQA Italy.

The spot was selected as the winner in TV by this week’s guest judge Sam Stuchbury, Founder and Executive Creative Director at Motion Sickness, Aotearoa.

&FRIENDS partnered with Campari and AKQA Italy to create a new campaign starring Mads Mikkelsen as a Campari bartender, reimagining the classic negroni with his own distinctive twist. At the heart of the campaign is a 72-second film that transforms the iconic cocktail serve into a moment of cinematic drama. Directed by Martin Werner, the film was produced on location during the Cannes Film Festival.

“A simple script that lets Mads Mikkelsen do what he does best,” says Stuchbury. “Shot on location during the Cannes Film Festival, it’s sophisticated with that slightly sinister edge Mads is known for. And, it kinda made me want to drink a Campari – which I think might be the point.”
