Asia’s early Cannes Lions performances lead by Ogilvy Singapore’s “Vaseline Verified” campaign

Cannes Lions has released their latest round of shortlists. These include The Entertainment Lions, Design, Digital Craft, Direct, Entertainment Lions For Gaming, Entertainment Lions For Music, Entertainment Lions For Sport, Film Craft, Industry Craft, Media, PR and Social & Creator Lions. These shortlists follow on from Saturday’s release of the Audio & Radio, Health & Wellness, Outdoor, Pharma and Print & Publishing categories.

 

In terms of the number of shortlists, Asia’s performance is lead by Ogilvy Singapore, who have 14 entries that have made the cut – all for their “Vaseline Verified” campaign for Unilever.

In total Asia has 140 shortlists so far accross 16 categories.

Other good performers include “Ink of Democracy” by Havas India with 7 Shortlists, “Lucky Yantra” by FCB India has 11 Shortlists and “Eye Test Menu” by Ogilvy Bangalore with 6 Shortlists.

Vaseline Verified

Social media fuels a thriving, yet potentially misinformed world of user-generated Vaseline ‘hacks’. These viral uses of petroleum jelly are inventive, ingenious, but not always safe or effective, like ‘using Vaseline for better sex’.

“Vaseline Verified” was created as a breakthrough idea that transformed anecdotal trends into scientifically validated truths. For the first time, Vaseline scientists tested viral hacks in the lab, to verify or debunk them.

When a hack worked, the Verified status was shared directly with the hack creator, rewarding their ingenuity with the Vaseline Verified badge and exclusive commerce opportunities and coveted trophies. “Vaseline Verified” became the ultimate seal of hack safety, and made it an official use.
