McCann Worldgroup Singapore and Seven Sunday Films explores the human side of security in new campaign for Mastercard

In a world dominated by data breaches and faceless frauds, Mastercard latest Safety & Security campaign puts people, not products, at the centre of the story. Developed by McCann Worldgroup Singapore and produced by Seven Sunday Films, the series of short films trades tech jargon for quiet emotion, capturing how moments of vulnerability can be met with trust, presence, and reassurance.

Filmed entirely in Jakarta, the campaign was crafted for markets across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam amongst others. Director Patrick Fileti and cinematographer Jani Hakli brings a rich, cinematic texture to the work—using real homes, lived-in locations, and grounded performances to tell stories that feel intimate and familiar. Whether it’s a suspicious transaction or the looming fear of identity theft, each scenario is treated with emotional sensitivity and visual elegance.

“We were interested in the stillness of uncertainty. The space between what just happened and what comes next,” says Fileti. “It’s in that moment Mastercard steps in, not with noise, but with presence. With trust.” The result is a campaign that unfolds more like a series of narrative shorts than traditional commercials. There’s no gloss or grandstanding here. Just honest, human storytelling that resonates.

“We wanted it to feel real. The texture of the streets, the quiet of the rooms, the subtleties in how people react. It had to reflect life as it’s actually lived,” says Afeeq Nadzrin, Executive Producer.

That understated realism sets the tone for a campaign that stands apart from the category. Where many financial brands focus on features and functionality, Mastercard’s message is emotional: peace of mind isn’t a product and when it matters most, it’s often the quietest gestures that carry the most weight.

With this beautifully restrained campaign, Mastercard and Seven Sunday Films have reframed what protection looks like. Not as something distant or digital, but as something human, quietly working in the background when we need it most.
