Beyond Battlegrounds debuts with inspiring story of a fan who brought BGMI to life

In a bid to bring to life inspiring stories of its fans, whose passion goes far beyond the game, BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI), has launched its new digital storytelling initiative ‘Beyond Battlegrounds’.

Designed as a long-term platform to celebrate creativity, grit, and community at the grassroots, the initiative kicks off with an emotionally charged short film about Karan Kargwal, a 28-year-old railway technician from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, who built a full-scale, functional replica of the iconic BGMI buggy atop his modest home, using scrap parts and sheer determination.

Crafted in close collaboration with Veeville Consulting, this cinematic piece follows Karan’s build process from late-night welding under desert conditions to reverse-engineering his vehicle purely from a 3D model on screen and a few game screenshots. The framing, pacing, and film language blur the lines between virtual and real, underlining a deeply immersive experience that reflects fans’ lived gaming passion.

“This buggy is more than metal and wheels. It’s proof that when passion meets purpose, unexpected dreams can come alive,” delivers Karan on-screen.

“Karan’s story is a shining example of the passion and talent emerging from Rajasthan,” said Saurabh Shah, Head of People Operations, KRAFTON India. “His story is not just inspiring, it has the potential to set a strong example for countless others who dare to dream beyond limitations. Through Beyond Battlegrounds, we are proud to champion voices like his that are redefining what gaming culture means in India’s heartland.”

“Among everything we’ve worked on, this film stood out with its emotional intensity, authenticity, and grassroots resonance — it literally stops you in your tracks. Collaborating with KRAFTON on this was incredibly rewarding, not just because of the story we got to tell, but because of the shared vision to celebrate creators from the heart of India in the most honest way possible,” adds Dhruva Vorkady, Creative Strategist at Veeville Consulting.

Beyond Battlegrounds will continue to spotlight such stories from every corner of the country, stories that reflect how deeply gaming is now embedded in the cultural fabric of India. As Karan’s buggy rolls out into the world, it carries more than just wheels. It carries a message: that the future of gaming belongs to those who build, create, and dream beyond the screen.
