Mastercard appoints WPP Media to lead global media duties across 70+ international markets

Mastercard has appointed WPP Media to lead its global media strategy, planning and buying across more than 70 international markets, following a competitive pitch process.
The move ends the financial services brand’s decade-long relationship with incumbent Carat, a Dentsu company.
As part of the appointment, WPP’s remit with Mastercard will also expand, with Ogilvy taking on global social responsibilities to manage and build online communities in key markets. McCann continues as Mastercard’s creative agency of record.
The appointment is a major global win for WPP Media, coming just months after the GroupM network rebranded under the WPP Media banner to better integrate its agencies and centralise access to tech and data capabilities.
