Bestads Best of the Week: Forest Road’s ‘Just A Normal Beer’ via Jackpot

Each week Bestads showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by an esteemed international creative director or team. This week’s best TV ad is Forest Road ‘Just A Normal Beer‘ via Jackpot.

 

The ad was picked by this week’s guest judge Shruthi Subramaniam, Executive Creative Director at BBDO India.

“Can I begin a sentence with LOL? Ok, I am. LOL!” says Subramaniam. “Everything about this ad is hilarious. From Wazaaaa to Beer-Kakee to Bosh – you can see how much fun the creators have had. The pop culture references, the witty dialogues, and the perfectly thought-out cast – they all come together, landing like a well-delivered joke.

“The ad is entertaining and fun, yet making it very clear that POSH Lager isn’t just for posh people. (I wonder if Posh Spice was ever considered).”

JUST A NORMAL BEER — a short branded film directed by Tom Gorst — follows a split-screen phone call between Jack Whitehall (mid–lobster lunch) and Forest Road Brewing Co. founder Pete Brown (behind the bar) as they try to find the perfect “man of the people” ambassador to represent POSH Lager and communicate that it “isn’t just for posh people”. With cameos from “Big John” and “Schooner Scorer.”
