Mandiri and Marriott Bonvoy Partner with Hakuhodo Indonesia and Seven Sunday Films on new Travel Credit Card Campaign
In a category often dominated by feature lists and reward charts, the Mandiri x Marriott Bonvoy campaign, created by Hakuhodo Indonesia and Seven Sunday Films, takes a different path – one that feels closer to cinema than conventional banking advertising.
The film accompanies Mandiri’s newest credit card offering, created in partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, making the bank one of the first in Indonesia to introduce a collaboration of this scale with a global hospitality brand. Rather than announcing its benefits upfront, the commercial invites viewers into the rhythm of travel itself: the quiet anticipation before departure, the calm of stepping into an airport lounge, and the confidence of arriving somewhere new already feeling looked after. Shot across Jakarta, Bali and Singapore, the narrative captures different textures of travel while allowing lounge access, seamless payments and hospitality privileges to unfold naturally within the story.
Director RLV approached the campaign with deliberate restraint, allowing emotion and atmosphere to guide the structure. “We wanted audiences to experience the journey first: the anticipation, the stillness, the small human exchanges,” he explains. “The card is powerful, but its real value lies in how effortlessly it fits into those moments.”
Supporting that vision is an international creative team that elevated the film’s cinematic language. Director of Photography Pascal Remond captured each city with fluid elegance, balancing Jakarta’s urban dynamism with Bali’s warmth and Singapore’s polished pace. In post-production, editor Laurin Biersack in Germany crafted a refined narrative rhythm, while colourist Matthieu Toulett unified the palette with subtle warmth and polish. The score by France’s BMM Network further deepens the emotional tone, guiding the audience through anticipation, movement and arrival.
Afeeq Nadzrin, Executive Producer at Seven Sunday Films, said: “The ambition was to ensure the campaign resonated beyond its commercial intent. We approached this like a short film rather than a retail spot. If audiences recognise themselves in those moments. The movement, the anticipation, the sense of belonging then the brand becomes part of that experience naturally. The production focused on tone, craft and authenticity, ensuring the film felt premium while remaining relatable.”
Hakuhodo Jakarta Creative Director., Antonio W (Cibo), said: “When was the last time your heart actually skipped a beat because of something you made? That’s what Rodney brings. Not just work, but energy, obsessive detail and real craftsmanship. He makes the process feel exciting again. Rodney and the team consistently deliver something unmistakably one of a kind. I’m proud to work alongside him, and here’s to many more extraordinary experiences ahead.”
In a crowded financial services category, Mandiri x Marriott Bonvoy stands apart by trusting atmosphere and storytelling over hard sell. By blending the worlds of banking and hospitality into a cinematic narrative, the campaign reminds audiences that the most compelling travel experiences often begin long before the journey itself and that sometimes the most powerful brand stories are simply the ones that let the journey unfold.
