Gov.sg premieres ‘Kisah Musim Raya’ festive film celebrating presence and traditions

The Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI)’s gov.sg has worked with DSTNCT Singapore to present “Kisah Musim Raya” (A Raya Tale), a heartfelt festive video about the importance of being truly present with your loved ones.

Directed by Juffrie Juma’at, known for his bold visual style across independent and government projects, the video follows Aisyah, a young girl who is often in her own world due to her preoccupation with her smartphone and social media. This causes unintended chaos as her family prepares to celebrate Hari Raya.

Driving the narrative of Aisyah’s story is an original soundtrack composed and performed by local 60s surf rock band The Pinholes, led by Famie Suliman. An instant earworm, the track was created exclusively for the video, weaving together the themes of togetherness, passing down of traditions, and precious Raya moments that too often go unnoticed.

The family features rising Suria actress Nur Sabrina Nasir as Aisyah, alongside Pesta Perdana winners, Siti Hajar as Ibu (Mother) and Izzat Yusoff as Ayah (Father). Together, they capture a powerful reminder that Hari Raya is more than just a celebration – it’s about the genuine connection we forge when we are fully present for the people we love.

“Through the lyrics of the song and Aisyah’s experiences, we want this video to reflect the true meaning of being present during the festive period. The moments that matter aren’t just the ones we document online, but the ones we celebrate together through shared traditions,” said Aaron Lye, Director, Campaigns and Productions, MDDI

Chloe Lim, Business Director and Partner, DSTNCT, said: “The insight behind ‘Kisah Musim Raya’ is something we can all relate to: how easy it is to be in the room but not really there. Working with Juffrie, we wanted to tell that story with warmth rather than judgment,” said Chloe Lim, Business Director and Partner, DSTNCT. “This is what national storytelling means to us at DSTNCT, finding the shared truths that connect all Singaporeans while celebrating what makes each community’s traditions unique.”

“Kisah Musim Raya” will premiere on gov.sg channels and on broadcast and digital platforms from 13 March 2026.
