TBWA\Singapore’s Unexpected Journeys content film for Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism picks up two awards in the US
TBWA\Singapore’s Unexpected Journeys has won The Los Angeles Film Award (LAFA) – Best Picture & Best TV Series DEC 2019 and the New York Movie Awards (Best Web/TV Series NOV 2019).
Unexpected Journeys is a 3-part travel series about discovering some of the most interesting yet misunderstood places on earth. Watch what happens when Rishi, a curious traveller, flies from Singapore to Dull, Boring and Bland – actual towns in Scotland, the US, and Australia. Then see how the journeys unfold when he flies back home with his new-found friends.
Craig Melville, Director said, “What an amazing project to help create. We got to meet a bunch of hilarious people from Boring, Dull and Bland – plucking them from their hometowns to experience the truly surprising aspects of Singapore. Host Rishi Budhrani was key to making this happen. He wasn’t afraid to throw himself into the challenge – be that literally throwing himself off a bridge or being sheared in a sheep shed. Full credit to TBWA/Singapore, Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism Board for trusting us with a project that relied on breaking the conventions of traditional advertising. Hopefully, it’s inspired a new set of travellers to seek out their own unexpected journeys.”
Anam AS, Creative Director, TBWA\Singapore said, “We’re really pleased that the films travelled and found their way into the hearts of audiences in the US. We first set out to tell a story. The Singapore story. We wanted the world to connect with Singapore in a refreshing and light-hearted manner. To share uniquely local experiences that are meaningful and unforgettable. To show the world that Singapore isn’t just a pretty place full of crazy, rich Asians. And that we’re definitely far from dull, boring and bland.”
