Global Creative Challenge to Combat COVID-19 Starts in O Canada

Crowdiate is an open-sourced idea company and as a way to give back, they recently mobilized their global creative department to come up with messages of encouragement to all of us living through this pandemic. One of several shortlisted ideas sparks a national campaign to promote social distancing.

In an effort to support the fight against Covid-19, Crowdiate conducted a pro-bono creative challenge calling for big ideas that would encourage people to stay strong, to stay safe and to pull together to overcome this global threat.

Crowdiate’s prompt solicited an impressive response:
● The brief led to 92 concepts submitted.
● Creative professionals from over 15 countries participated.
● The competition shortlist can be seen here.

“Now more than ever, the world needs creative ideas to positively influence behaviour,” said Aaron Nemoy, Founder and CEO of Crowdiate. “Our global creative community responded to the call with heart and an abundance of diverse perspectives.”

One of the entries immediately jumped out to the team, received from a Canadian copywriter living in Hong Kong. ‘O Canada’ with its inventive wordplay on a line from the Canadian national anthem felt sure to resonate across the country. “We loved this idea and couldn’t wait to get it out there,” says Nemoy.

Crowdiate worked with Media City who generously agreed to support the creative on outdoor digital billboards from coast to coast throughout April. The team is working to push these positive messages into other channels, and any media outlet is welcome to run with the assets at no charge.

Crowdiate is actively looking for help to turn more of these ideas into action. Creative s submissions are also being shared with the UN for consideration in their effort to bring localized public health messages to countries around the world.
