Chris Chalk signs on as Chief Strategy Officer at BBH Singapore; Janson Choo & Khairul Mondzi elevated to Executive Creative Director roles

BBH Singapore has announced the appointment of Chris Chalk to the role of Chief Strategy Officer. The move comes during a period of significant growth for the agency including securing the Singapore Tourism Board brief. It also follows the promotions of Janson Choo & Khairul Mondzi to Executive Creative Director roles and Lesley Chelvan, a longstanding member of the BBH Singapore team, to the post of Chief of Staff.

Chalk brings an extensive and enviable 30 year pedigree in his move to Asia, including board-level positions at Cheil, Saatchi & Saatchi, IPG MullenLowe, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and TBWA\Chiat\Day. He is already overseeing strategic thinking across a number of accounts within the BBH Singapore portfolio including Nike and Mulberry, as well as nurturing and developing the agency’s planning talent.

As part of the updates to the management team, Chelvan is also taking on the role of Chief of Staff, working closely with MD Sid Tuli on running the agency day-to-day. Chelvan is a longstanding member of the BBH Singapore team having joined over a decade ago as producer, and has worked in multiple roles within the agency’s ranks since. She will be responsible for resource management, internal communication, learning and development, and other initiatives that support the company’s unique internal culture.

The recently promoted ECDs, Choo and Mondzi, both played significant roles in the recent Singapore Tourism win and report into Sascha Kuntze as CCO. Choo has been with BBH Singapore since 2009, while Mondzi has been with the business since 2013 following roles at Iris Worldwide and DDB group.

Chalk said: “It was always going to take something amazing to make me leave London, but I have found that in the BBH Singapore. The team have been producing brilliant, innovative work over the last few years, which not only reflects their talent and capability, but also the unique place they sit in the world. Singapore shows how ‘eastern’ and ‘western’ culture can blend successfully, which many clients are trying to understand as they seek to position their brands for a truly global audience.”

Kuntze said: “We’re entering a new era for BBH in Singapore. Grounded In the heart of Asia with our eyes on the world. We want to maximise our ambition to bring future-forward work into this world. The creative challenges being laid at our door by clients are forging new paths for our thinking, and Janson and Khairul are playing major roles, helping us to rise to exceed these expectations, each and every day.”
