R/GA elevates Anthony Baker to GM role in Japan
R/GA has announced a new leadership appointment in Asia. VP, Head of Technology Strategy Anthony Baker has been promoted to General Manager of the Japan office.
Baker was part of R/GA Japan’s founding team and has spent the last seven years working with the office’s leadership to grow its offering and reputation. Originally from R/GA’s London office, Baker moved to Japan in 2017, and has been an integral part of driving the office’s culture, as well as the region’s capability in digital transformation.
In his new role, Baker will oversee R/GA Japan’s business, and continue the great momentum the office has gained in the past year – notably following landmark projects with clients such as the NBA, Nike, Shiseido, Fujitsu, and technology start-up b8ta.
“Although I come from a different country and culture, I love Japan deeply. I’m so grateful to have found a home here, and for what the country and its people have given me so far,” said Baker. “I’ve been in Japan since we opened the Tokyo office, and have seen how our model of innovation has unlocked significant value for our clients. The future is promising for us in Japan!”
Building on his knowledge and experience in the technology space, Baker says he is looking forward to establishing R/GA Japan as a world-class digital innovation agency, driving solutions at the intersection of design, technology and consumer behavior, with a unique mix of highly-skilled international and local talent.
“With Anthony’s deep background in product and experience work and being admired as a transformational leader, I couldn’t be more thrilled he’s stepping up to lead our Japan office,” says R/GA Global CEO Robin Forbes. “My recent trip to Tokyo was eye-opening – I saw firsthand how R/GA Japan is helping our clients grow by combining technological innovation with our design know-how, in a local context. I’m very excited about the opportunities in the market, and look forward to R/GA Japan’s next chapter.”
