AAN elects Sudip Thapa as President and Ujaya Shakya as First Vice President
The Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN) has elected its 11th Executive Committee during the 24th Annual General Meeting held at Kathmandu on January 7, 2024.
Sudip Thapa (pictured above left) with nearly three decades of experience, has been elected as the President of AAN. Thapa, a well-known advertising personality in Nepal, expressed his privilege in serving as the President and conveyed his commitment to fostering a transformative advertising and media environment in the country.
Ujaya Shakya (pictured above right), the Founder of Outreach, has been elected as the First Vice President of the newly formed Executive Committee. A celebrated advertising professional, columnist and academic, Shakya leads one of the most awarded marketing communication groups in Kathmandu. He is also the author of the book “brandsutra” and represents Nepali advertising in global forums. Shakya emphasized the importance of balancing AI and data-driven marketing with human values and empathy. He is looking forward to collaborate with AAN members, the President and the Executive Board to reshape Nepal’s advertising landscape. Shakya particularly highlighted the need for fresh perspectives, engagement with key stakeholders and welcoming younger generations and content creators to stay relevant to audiences.
The new Executive Committee includes other key members such as Pankaj Pradhan (Second Vice President), Krishna Prasad Ghimire (General Secretary), Santosh Khadka (Secretary), Sajan Shrestha (Treasurer), Arun Kaji Sthapit (Joint Treasurer), and additional board members: RC Regmi, Santosh Silwal Giri, Dependra Poudel, Roshan Poudel, Bidan Rajbhandari, Manish Adhikari, and Prabhat Rimal.
The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected executive board members took place on Sunday evening and was administered by the Chief Election Officer.
