Joan Ng joins Sandpiper to advise financial and sustainability practices in Singapore

The Sandpiper Group (“Sandpiper”), the largest independent communications, public affairs, and research group headquartered in Asia Pacific has appointed Joan Ng as Associate Director, joining the senior team of its financial and sustainability practices, based in Singapore.

Ng joins Sandpiper from Singapore’s leading business and financial news platform, The Business Times (BT), where she was most recently a senior correspondent covering private markets. She was also a founding member of its ESG reporting team and served as news editor overseeing daily news coverage. With nearly two decades of journalism experience, Ng has also held various roles at the business and finance weekly The Edge Singapore, culminating in the position of Executive Editor.

She will work alongside Sandpiper’s leadership and senior team in supporting the firm’s growing financial practice with a focus on private markets, as well as in its energy, environment, and ESG practice, with a focus on sustainability communications.

Ng joins Sandpiper as the firm continues its expansion across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. In the past 18 months, Sandpiper has been named Asia Pacific Agency of the Year by PRovoke Media, PRWeek, the Public Relations Communications Association (PRCA), and Public Affairs Asia, as well as ESG and Sustainability Specialist Agency of the Year and Corporate and Financial Agency of the Year.

Emma Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Sandpiper, said: “Joan’s considerable experience in covering critical developments in private markets, ESG, and sustainability as well the broader financial sector in Singapore and Southeast Asia over the past two decades brings immense value to our clients and our team. We see enormous growth potential in these areas in the coming years as Singapore raises its profile and position as a major global financial centre.”

Ng said: “I am looking forward to bringing my experience and perspectives from the newsroom to Sandpiper’s award-winning team, and working with clients to help build and protect their reputations. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the private markets and sustainability-linked sectors both in Singapore and across the region. I am confident that the combination of my experience and Sandpiper’s deep capabilities will offer considerable value for clients entering and expanding in this region.”
