Asian Paints captures the colours, stories and craft of India’s Northeast
In India’s Northeast, colour is deeply woven into everyday life – visible in handwoven textiles, prayer houses, festive dress, and the natural landscape. From the bold reds and blacks of traditional motifs to the earthy tones drawn from hills, forests, and rivers, colour carries meaning, memory, and identity. Inspired by this connection, Asian Paints has launched the Northeast Book of Colours, a curated shade guide created exclusively for the region. Rooted in local stories and cultural heritage, it enables homeowners to express themselves through colours that feel familiar and authentic.
Anchored in the theme Inspired by You, Crafted for You, the book draws from the spirit and diversity of the Northeastern states, with palettes inspired by local cultures and subtle influences from neighbouring regions. Featuring more than 80 curated shade combinations, along with mood boards and design inspiration, it serves as both a practical resource and a distinctly local guide for home design.
Each palette reflects a cultural symbol or craft, from Manipur’s Longpi pottery and Assam’s iconic white-and-red Gamosa to Tripura’s vibrant Rignai, creating colour stories that add warmth, depth, and character to living spaces.
Amit Syngle, MD & CEO, Asian Paints Ltd., said: “At Asian Paints, we have always believed that colour is one of the most powerful expressions of identity—it reflects who we are, where we come from, and the stories we choose to live with every day. The Northeast Book of Colours is our tribute to a region that is exceptionally rich in culture, craft, and character. As India’s colour authority, we are committed not only to offer beautiful shades, but also to lead through inspiration around how colour can shape spaces, emotions, and everyday living. With this book, we are bringing together the Northeast’s most loved palettes and cultural influences into a curated guide that is truly inspired by and crafted for the people, homes, and communities of the region.”
To bring the collection to life, the brand has also launched a film showcasing the inspiration and shades from the Northeast Book of Colours.
With the launch of the ‘Northeast Book of Colours’, Asian Paints continues to deepen its relationship with the Northeast Region, celebrating its unique identity while empowering consumers with curated inspiration, expert guidance, and colour choices that feel deeply personal and truly their own.
The Northeast edition of the Book of Colours was launched at a flagship event yesterday at Radisson, Guwahati. The event was commemorated through a fashion show inspired by the region’s rich culture and traditions. The showcase brought indigenous art, textiles, and natural hues to life, translating the spirit of the Northeast into colours for contemporary homes.
