Ngọc Thẩm Jewelry (NTJ) is more than a jewelry brand. Founded in 1989 in the Mekong Delta, it is a three-generation family business deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Southern Vietnam. For decades, its name has stood for trust, quality, and craftsmanship. Engagements, dowries, milestones, and celebrations have carried the mark of Ngọc Thẩm, embedding the brand into the emotional memory of Mekong families.

 

As the company entered its third generation, it expanded through manufacturing innovation, technological advancement, and a strengthened retail network. In partnership with M — N Associates Vietnam, the brand was redefined as a Mekong Icon, grounded in heritage, creation, and distinction.

The collaboration spans brand strategy, visual identity, typography, packaging systems, store and furniture design, and spatial experience. Positioned for national expansion and global cultural relevance, Ngọc Thẩm demonstrates that true luxury is not invented – it is inherited, structured, and elevated.

A five-year strategic partnership, M — N Associates has led NTJ transformation across brand strategy, brand consulting, visual identity systems, custom typography, photography, art direction, illustration, product branding, packaging, website development, spatial experience, furniture and interior design, visual merchandising principles, art collaborations, product films and cinematography, uniforms, stationery, digital omnichannel management, database development, and numerous brand executions across platforms.

Logo
M — N Associates traced back to the brand’s earliest storefront signage and used it as the foundation for a refined logo system. Rather than replacing history, they reconstructed it. The new logo system includes three forms:
– A full signature for formal applications
– A shortened version for retail communications
– An abbreviated NTJ monogram for scalable, digital and international use.

At its core, an updated geometric signifier combines the crown and rhombus star drawn from the original signboard, symbolizing generational leadership and brilliance. Rebuilt with precise proportions and contemporary balance, the logo carries the footprint of the brand’s past while establishing clarity and consistency for its future.

Type Family
NTJ Type System is built on two complementary families, NTJ Display and NTJ Sans, crafted to express culturally sophisticated luxury with contemporary clarity. The development of the type system was created in close collaboration with Trà-Giang Nguyễn (Gydient), ensuring both conceptual depth and technical precision.

NTJ Display carries the ceremonial character of the brand, developed in Roman and Italic from Light to Bold, forming 8 refined styles for headlines and signature moments.

NTJ Sans serves as the structural backbone for retail, digital, and omnichannel use. It ranges from Thin to Black with matching Oblique styles, totaling 12 styles. Altogether, the NTJ Type System comprises 20 styles across 10 core weights, fully optimized for Vietnamese and scalable from signage to product engraving and digital platforms.

Icon
The icon system translates NTJ’s craftsmanship into the digital space, built on the same geometric precision as the logo and typography. Balancing structure and subtle curves, it ensures clarity and consistency across retail, digital, and omnichannel platforms, supporting the brand’s seamless evolution from craft to connected experience.

Packaging
The packaging system is inspired by the iconic rounded plastic box long used by

Mekong families to store gold. Rather than distancing from this familiar object, they elevated it. The circular form becomes the foundation of the packaging architecture, refined in proportion, material, and finish to express cultural memory through a contemporary luxury lens.

Soft curves and compact silhouettes echo the act of preserving value across generations. Reimagined in rich red with precise gold detailing, the packaging transforms a humble container into a ceremonial object, bridging nostalgia and aspiration while positioning NTJ within a modern cultural luxury context.

Photography
Photography became a vital brand asset in shaping NTJ’s visual identity. Collaborating with leading creative teams to build an extensive media library that elevates product presentation across all touchpoints. In parallel, M — N Associates developed an internal product photography studio in collaboration with Wing Chan, establishing a long-term production system capable of delivering consistent, high-precision imagery.

The goal was clear: to achieve world-class product visuals that meet international standards while preserving the material richness and craftsmanship of each piece. From art direction to lighting control, every image is designed to enhance NTJ’s visual authority and position the brand confidently within a global luxury context.

Retail Experience
The retail experience was designed as a holistic brand environment, from human interaction to spatial identity. They developed a modern uniform system featuring a subtle reinterpretation of the crossed short tie, finished with the NTJ pin as a refined brand signature.

In collaboration with architectural teams, M — N Associates led the design direction for two flagship stores in Cần Thơ and Mỹ Tho, establishing a new retail benchmark for NTJ. The circular silhouette of the iconic gold-saving box became the master design principle, shaping display corners, spatial flow, and custom furniture details throughout the stores.

M — N Associates also developed a comprehensive visual merchandising system by category, ensuring clarity and hierarchy while maintaining emotional resonance. Traditional printed posters were transformed into large-scale digital screens, allowing storytelling, campaigns, and product highlights to evolve dynamically. Every element, from display modules to architectural curves, reflects a continuous dialogue between heritage form and contemporary retail experience.
