TikTok Shop turns its 6.6 Mega Birthday Sale into a bizarre birthday party via The Friday Vietnam
For its 6.6 Mega Birthday Sale, TikTok Shop chose to spotlight one of the platform’s most powerful yet underexplored features: the Shop button.
While the Shop button serves as a gateway to countless deals and promotions across the platform, its value is often overshadowed by the content surrounding it. Created by The Friday Vietnam, the campaign, “Touch Shop, Fall in Love With Deals,” reframes a mundane UI element as something unexpectedly desirable.
The film unfolds at a birthday celebration where something immediately feels wrong. Guests arrive at a birthday party and, instead of offering gifts or greetings, kiss the host on the face, then receive gifts in return. The gesture is oddly intimate, particularly within an Asian setting. Yet the real twist comes moments later: each kiss leaves behind a fingerprint rather than a lipstick mark.
As more guests arrive, the fingerprints multiply. The escalating absurdity creates a mystery that carries the audience toward the film’s final reveal.
The fingerprints are symbolic traces of users touching the Shop button—an exaggerated visualization of the interaction that unlocks deals during TikTok Shop’s biggest birthday celebration of the year.
“The film commits fully to its visual joke, pushing the absurdity as far as possible before revealing the logic behind it. We wanted to make people obsess over the Shop button by turning a simple tap into something physical, emotional and memorable,” said Khoa Pham, Creative Director at The Friday.
The campaign extends beyond the hero film with a series of short-form social content pieces built around the birthday host character, further expanding the bizarre world of the party and reinforcing the Shop button as the centerpiece of TikTok Shop’s 6.6 birthday celebration.
