Gold in Cannes Lions Health & Wellness category for ‘Art’s Missing Period’ campaign for Kotex via Ogilvy Singapore and DAVID London
DAVID London and OGILVY Singapore’s ‘Art’s Missing Period’ for Kotex has scored a Gold Lion in Cannes Health & Wellness category. Silver and Bronze winners have already been announced earlier tonight with Asia scoring one Silver and three Bronze Lions.
The campaign highlighted a cultural blind spot in the art world: while blood has been widely depicted across centuries of artistic expression, from violence to sacrifice, one form has remained largely absent from public view: period blood.
Kotex set out to challenge that imbalance by bringing previously censored or rejected works into the spotlight. Spanning pieces from as far back as 35,000 BCE through to contemporary art removed from galleries for being “too sensitive,” the initiative aims to reframe how menstruation is represented and accepted in culture.

The Health & Wellness Lions, celebrating creativity for personal wellbeing, received 889 entries, and 31 Lions were awarded: 5 Gold, 10 Silver, 15 Bronze. The Grand Prix went to ‘The Periodic Fable’, for The Ordinary, by SMUGGLER, London / Uncommon Creative Studio, London. The work reframed beauty advertising by identifying unregulated marketing terms and reclassifying them within a reimagined periodic table.
Health & Wellness Jury President, Kainaz Karmakar, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy, India, said: “It’s an outstanding commentary on how the obsession with skin trends is getting more out of control every day. When health, creativity, craft and culture intersect in the best way possible, work like this is born. This piece was more than deserving. It was undeniable.”
